There is this common saying that success has many takers and failure has none. The saying seems to have come true at least for Yash Raj Films.
As their latest release New York stuck gold at the Box Office with the movie being declared as first hit of 2009, much on expected lines everyone associated with the film is extremely happy.
But even as the entire team associated with the film was getting ready to celebrate the success, there was a twist in the tale when a lady named Suchita Bhatia alleged that New York was based on a story, which she had written and narrated to the director of the film Kabir Khan, a couple of years back.
Speaking to the media, Suchita allegedly said, “I was shocked to see the similarities between the script, which I had narrated to director Kabir Khan and the film released last week.”
But, it seems Yashraj Films and director of New York, Kabir Khan are not at all amused by these allegations. This, even as Yash Raj Film has now threatened to take Suchita to court and press legal charges against her.
Commenting on the concerned development, director of New York, Kabir Khan said, “This is an easy way to get to fame. Where was this lady for all these days and why has she suddenly appeared on the scene, a couple of days after the film’s release?”
Added Kabir, “Why does one have to keep fighting to protect one’s integrity? I have sued this girl because I want to discourage such frivolous charges in the future.”
So, at least for the time being, considering that she has woken-up rather late and is pitched against the biggest production house of bollywoold, the situation does not seem to favor Suchita at all.
