Yuvraaj

Yuvraaj

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Godddddd. This is a news that is going to send shock waves across Bollywood. According to the reports, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraaj isn’t doing too well. Whats even more disappointing is that when it comes to big cities like Delhi and Mumbai the film is doing below average business with only a dismal 40% collection. If that was not enough, trade analysts are asking a question which is going to put Subhash Ghai’s spirits down even further. They point out that since trends in recent years seem to indicate that the collections of most films tend to fall after Sunday, will Yuvraaj not suffer even more in days to come?

I seems as if Subhash Ghai today really stands in the shoes of Raj Kapoor – Showman as they both are called. Just as while criticizing ‘Mera Naam Jokar’, critics pointed out that Raj Kapoor’s cinema of 1940’s did not reach out to the cinema goers of 1970’s, media is pointing out that Subhash Ghai’s cinema belongs to the era of 1980s.

No, its not as if people are not going to the theatres but the only difference is that rather than Yuvraaj, it is Dostana that’s proving to be a crowd puller for the second consecutive week. So, what that actually seems to suggest is that despite all the hype it created in the media, Yuvraaj is a big disappointment. What people have got instead is a slow film with nothing new to offer.

So, as Subhas Ghai gets ready to accept the failure of Yuvraaj, its good news for both Karan Johar his good friend Aditya Chopra since the failure of Yuvraj not only ensures even better collections for Dostana but raises hopes for Rab Ne Banna Di Jodi.
