Dull Week At Box Office

by admin on January 23, 2012

Box office remains dull this week.

The second week of the year proved to be rather dismal for Bollywood since as it was expected initially, all the films released this week did not draw any crowd to the theatres.

It was expected that since there are no big releases this week, the last week’s release Players would benefit from it. But that was also not to be. Though in cities like Delhi, most big cinema halls are running the film for the second week, Players could only collect Rs. 4 Crore this week, taking its net collections since its release to Rs 26 Crore. The film has been a disappointment despite the fact that it is not facing any competition at the box office and has managed to recover a little more than half of the Rs 45 Crore invested on it.

As per the trend, it is seen that in the week where no big films are released at theatres, the producers of small films try to take advantage and release their films together. The result is that though a number of films release in a single week, none of them attract the viewers. The story is no different this week. The collections of the four releases this week including Chaalis Chauraasi, Ghost Sadda Adda and Tutiya Dil were so bad that they can’t even be mentioned.

With no big releases this week, the story is expected to be the same in coming days until Agneepath hits the theatres.
