There is a difference between reel life and real life. A Bollywood star may be capable enough to tackle 20 men alone on the silver screen but when it comes to real life, he is just another individual on the street like you and me.

This was reveal by none other than the Super Star of the Millennium Amitabh Bachchan himself. Sharing his experiences of the fateful night Big B writes, ‘I am ashamed to say this and now afraid to share this now with the rest of the cyber world that last night, as the events of the terror attacks unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do. Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put in under my pillow’.

Mr. Bachchan said he was glued to television set till late in the night on Wednesday when the terrorist attack took place in Mumbai, watching the incidents unfold. He also said that he was proud of all the security men who fought so bravely for the city of Mumbai and Mumbaikers. Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in rab ne bana di jodi

It seems like the closely guarded secret of Yashraj Films is no more a secret after all. Its out in the open.
According to the sources and rumors going round in Bollywood, a desperate attempt made by the Yashraj banner to keep the storyline of Rab Ne Banna Di Jodi under wrap hasn’t really worked. Despite all attempt being made by Yashraj, they haven’t been able to hold back the story of the film until the date of release. The breaking news for movie lovers is that the film is a love story between an old man and a young woman.

It may be recalled here that Yash Chopra had made another film with similar storyline in early 90’s called Lamhe, which proved to be a disaster at the Box Office.

Although the good news for Yash Raj banner is that the first screening of the film, which the production house held for their close friends and well-wishers, proved to be a hit as those who watched the film simply loved it.

Year 2008 for A. R. Rahman!

Dec 04, 2008 No Comments »

A R Rehman

A R Rahman

Definitely, though it has been a good year for Bollywood lovers otherwise also with many movies doing great business, it has also been great year for Bollywood music lovers with the king of Hindi film music world A R Rehman coming out with as many as 5 albums for his fans.

The maestro started the year with songs like Azeem O Shaan Shehenshah and Jashn Baharaa from the melodious Jodha Akbarr which did doing very well on the charts. If that wasn’t enough, then came the sensational music of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which by all means was the most exceptional music created by this legendary composer in recent times. Unlike the usual compositions of A R Rehman, which do take a certain amount of time to get popular and noticed, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na had chart bursting numbers like Nazrein Mila Na Nazrein ChuraNa and Pappu can’t Dance, which became an instant hit equally with the masses and the classes.

Of course, when Rehman would look back at 2008, he will also think of the complex feelings that the year gave him. Just at the time when Rehman was being praised all over with the music of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na doing so well, he had to suffer the failure of his album Ada. Though the expectations from A R Rehman are always sky high, after the sensational success of the music of Bombay Dreams, people await his non-film albums with the same amount of eagerness as they do for the film soundtracks.

But, as it has always been the case with his career, Rehman has bounced back with the music of Yuvraaj. Though the film might not be doing that well, but the music of the film seems to be catching up slowly and steadily. And, with the music of Ghajini catching up, there seems to be more in store for Rehman fans this year.

Anil kapoor & Subhash Ghai

Dec 04, 2008 No Comments »

Anil kapoor has said that he never reads the script while signing a Subhash Ghai Film. The actor who has been part of Hindi film industry for the last 25 years says, he has complete faith in Ghai’s ability as a director.

Anil, who is working in Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraaj says he owes much of his success to Subhas Ghai who gave him a film like Ram Lakhan, a milestone in Anil’s acting career. Anil has worked in seven films that have been either produced or directed by Subhash Ghai. Apart from Ram Lakhan, other projects like Meri Jung and Karma, where both joined hands, were super success at the Box Office.

Still Anil, what you need to remember is that Subhash Ghai also gave you films like Black And White, his last release at the Box Office. So, beware Anil sometimes even blind faith may also be not too good.

A R Rehman and Delhi Elections!

Nov 28, 2008 No Comments »

A R Rehman

A R Rehman

The music Maestro A R Rehman is entering election arena. No, No. don’t get it wrong. He is not contesting any election. Neither is he going to campaign for any political party. Rather, A R rehman is going to work for the Election Commission to create a sense of responsibility among voters to vote. According to reports the office of Chief Election commissioner of Delhi, the music composer is going to create a composition urging the Delhites to come out and cast their vote in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. Although it is has not been finalized as yet, along with the composition, Rehman may also be asked to give a message to the voter in the same context.

Giving details about the need of this campaign, the state election commission has said that it is a cause of great concern that the voters turnout in the metropolitan National Capital state of the country has fallen over the years. Each time elections take place in the city, as compared to the previous occasion, the voters turnout has been less. Reports from the commission and media also suggest that it is the socio-economically influential sections of voters in the city, who are the least interested in casting their vote. Rehm an’s campaign will try out a humorous approach to create a sense of shame among these and other 12 section of voters who hardly ever vote.

The Delhi election commission also plans to use the sizzling numbers from A R Rehman ‘s latest blockbuster Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Pappu Can’t Dance to encourage voters to use their voting power

So. If you think that A R Rehman and his music is cool, take his advise and vote on 29th November.

Bollywood too is Affected by Terror Attack

Nov 27, 2008 No Comments »

Even as Mumbai comes to terms with the terrorists attacks, the Mumbai film industry is not isolated from its effect and along with the rest of the city, it also has to bear the burns of this horrifying incident.

Acting upon the orders issued by the Maharashtra state government, all singled screened and multiplexes stopped screening of films for a day in Mumbai on Thursday. The state government had advised all cinema owners to stop screening the films unless and until it takes proper security measures for the security of cinema goers. With the attack on seven-star hotels, the government may have felt that even cinema halls may not be a good place to visit in the city for the time being.

Keeping in mind the kind of stress and chaos the city and its residence went through, it seems all shooting and dubbing schedules for the day were also cancelled.

Bollywood and Terror Attack in Mumbai!

Nov 27, 2008 No Comments »

It seems that terrorist groups, irrespective of which community and religion they may belong to, have a new way of hitting the headlines of newspapers, television channels and other media like the internet- by strike busy and densely populated areas of big cities of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Lakhnow, Ahmedabad and Bangaluru.

Where as when it comes to a city like Delhi, where people are said to be selfish and self-centered in their attitude, such attacks don’t seem to affect many. Fortunately or unfortunately, on the particular day when the last three major incidents took place in the national capital, this reporter has been on road and has witnessed, irrespective of what was going on, people moved on with their daily lives without caring much.

But, its always good to see that when it comes to critical situations like this, Mumbaikars always come out to help each other in the hour of need. This is especially true with regard to the Bolywood film industry, which is based in that city only. Although, it is a well-established fact that going by their reputation as crowd pullers and celebrities whom ordinary men like you and me listen to, Bollywood stars have always lent a helping hand as and when needed, but whenever it comes to Mumbai, the home of Bollywood, the stars always put in that extra bit of effort. The situation will be no different this time around.

Despite the fact that one of the main links between Bollywood and government (Political Circles), Mr. Sunil Dutt, who also took keen interest in social causes, is no more with us today, surely the present situation is going to bring many other Bollywood stars in forefront to lend a helping hand to bring their city back on its feet.
