Star Cast of Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai: Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Mughda Godse, Annu Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Akhilendra Mishra, Vijay Raaz, Ashok Samarth

Though in the past a lot of films dealing with the issue of corruption have been made, it is the timing of the release of Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai, which makes the audiences notice this film. The film with a subject revolving around common man’s fight against corruption is getting released at a time when many ministers and politicians are allegedly caught under the charges of corruption. Ordinary people are being led by likes of Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, are fighting corruption.

Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai is a story of corrupt bureaucrats and the corrupt system that is dishonest; takes bribe and betray the society. The film is about a middle-class family from Bhopal, whose life changes after an incident and they have to face a lot of corruption.

Though many films in the past have highlighted the theme of corruption, what sets Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai apart is that since the characters of the film are ordinary people, you as the audience can identify with them. Moreover, despite the fact that the director of the film Rumy Jafry knew pretty well that the film is on a serious issue, the screenplay has been written in such a way that a lot of humor is added to it and that in turn makes the film entertaining. Also, in order to create the interest of people in the film, the director has created incidents and situations similar to those, which have occurred in the country in the recent past. This again increases the interest of the viewer in what he is watching on the screen.

Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai is a story of Bharat [Akshaye Khanna], a common man, who lives in the city of Bhopal along with his father [Satish Kaushik] and wife Nisha [Shriya Saran]. While Bharat is a part time accountant, his wife is a school teacher. Bharat looks forward to the day, when the government administration of the city is free from corruption.

While Bharat plays the role of Hanumaan in the local Ramleela, he desires to play the role of Ram on the stage. But, the main obstacle in the fulfillment of his desire are Sattu Tripathi [Amit Mistry], who plays the role of Ram in the Ramleela and his elder brother Manku Tripathi [Murli Sharma]. Sattu and Manku do not like Bharat because he is not only a better actor than Sattu but also because Bharat is not ready to lend him a room.

The ordinary accountant hits headlines, when he has to bribe government officials to find his stolen fan.

The nexus between politicians and police and other incidents shown in the first hour of Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai, despite being serious issues have been shown by adding a touch of humor to them. Though this looks good but, as the film progresses, it looses its track and becomes slightly boring. The way Akshay chases the goons is highly unreal and this portion of the film takes the story off from the main track. But, the climax not only brings the story back on track but also gets the viewer involved in the film.

The basic problem with Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai is that despite having an excellent story idea, director Rumy Jafry has faltered in the screenplay. If the story idea of the film would have stuck to the issue of corruption, without adding any other aspect to the storyline, it would have made an excellent film. While the dialogues of the film are good, the director knew that there is not much scope of music in the film and has not worked on it.

Akshaye gets into the skin of the character and gives a very natural performance. Apart from Akshaye, Satish Kaushik, Annu Kapoor, Amit Mistry, Vijay Raaz, Rajat Rawail and Shashi Ranjan look good in their respective roles.

Among the remaining star cast, the two female lead Shriya Saran and Mugdha Godse do not get much scope in the film. Again, Murli Sharma and Akhilendra Mishra have not been able to do much in the film.

The film is good in a few parts and in the times when corruption is such a big issue, the film may find a few takers. But with a more effective story and screenplay, Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai could have been a much better film.

Star Cast of Agneepath: Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri, Zarina Wahab, Rajesh Tandon, Sachin Khedekar, Deven Bhojani, Chetan Pandit, Arish Bhiwandiwala, Kanika Tiwari, Rajesh Vivek, Madhurjeet Sarghi, Katrina Kaif

Despite the fact that Amitabh Bachchan starer Agneepath did not gain much success at the box office, today the film is considered a cult film. By making a remake of this film, producer Karan Johar and director Karan Malhotra have taken a big risk. The remake, if not better than the previous film, should at least come across as a good movie, which people can enjoy. The two films are bound to be compared and as far as Agneepath goes, since people now feel that the Amitabh Bachchan starer was a master piece, they are more likely to find weakness in the new movie, which stars Hrithik Roshan in the lead role.
Ironically, when Mr. Bachchan won the National Award for Agneepath, he was severely criticized for it but that very National Award has become a burden on Hrithik because he has to match the standards of the Bollywood megastar with his performance. Moreover, despite the film getting a thumbs down by the audiences, 1991 release was considered as one of the best movies of the year by the critics and Karan Malhotra also needs to impress the critics with the remake that he has come-up with.
When Farhan Akhtar remade Don, he took a big risk and now Karan Johar has taken the same risk by remaking Agneepath because both the original films star Amitabh Bachchan and it is very difficult to wipe-off the memory of Mr. Bachchan from the mind of his fans. Just like many people feel that only Mr Bachchan can be Don, there are others, who feel no one apart from Mr Bachchan be Vijay Deenanath Chauhan.
The story of the film is of a teacher, who is a principal of a school [Chetan Pandit] and lives in a village called Madwa along with his pregnant wife and son Vijay Deenanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan). When Kancha [Sanjay Dutt] kills his father, Vijay escapes from the village. The little Vijay is helped by the city gang lord Rauf Lala [Rishi Kapoor]. Once he grows young, Vijay comes back to Madwa to seek revenge from Kancha.
Though the story of revenge and emotions remains basically the same and even some of the dialogues that became hit in the 1991 Agneepath have also been incorporated in this film, the screenplay of the film has been rewritten. Sadly, while incorporating changes in the screenplay, the director has completely done away with the role of Krishnan Iyer M.A, which was played by Mithun Chakraborty in the previous film and added another negative character Rauf Lala. But even then, as a viewer, you cannot deny the fact that despite making these changes, director Karan Malhotra has studied the original film to its depth and has tried his best to keep the essence of the original script intact.
But the good part of the new script of Agneepath is that it keeps you engaged from beginning to end. Whether it the track of Vijay’s conflict with his mother or his conflict with Kancha, every aspect of the film keeps you hooked on. The only drawback of the film comes in the first hour itself, where Vijay falls in love. The romantic angle of the script is a kind of a burden because it slows down the film.
Apart from a good story, screenplay and direction, there are some other highlights in the film. To begin with, the character of Kancha, which has been portrayed by Sanjay Dutt, really looks good on screen. The director has worked very hard on the action scenes of the films, which are a treat to watch. Alongside, though none of the songs of the film has become a smash hit, but when you watch the film, every song of Agneepath seems to be just at the right place and goes well with the screenplay. The cinematography of the film is also good.
This was an important role for Hrithik Roshan because whether he likes it or not he would be compared with Mr Bachchan when it comes to this role. Hrithik knew this fairly well and he has put in extra effort for the character of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan. When you see him on screen, you know his effort has paid-off. One of the highlights of Hrithik’s performance in the film is that he has not tried to see the character of Vijay from the eyes of Mr. Bachchan and given his own perspective to the role.
Before the release of the film, Sanjay Dutt had said that his role in Agneepath will remind the film goers of the time when villain really looked dangerous on the screen and his portrayal of Kancha will rank among the likes of Gabbar Singh from Sholay or Mogambo of Mr India. He was dead right. Though Danny Denzongpa was a class apart when it comes to playing negative roles, Sanjay has also been able to create the fear as Kancha and people are going to love him in this role.
Apart from Hrithik and Sanjay, the third notable performance of Agneepath comes from Rishi Kapoor. By excelling in this role, Rishi has shown that an actor of his calibre can do justice to any kind of a role.
The rest of the star cast of Agneepath including Arish Bhiwandiwala, Zarina Wahab, Om Puri, Kanika Tiwari, Chetan Pandit, Rajesh Tandon and Deven Bhojani have done justice to their characters.
Another attraction of Agneepath is the item number by Katrina Kaif, which has already become a national rage for the past some time.
The only disappointment though in Agneepath is Priyanka Chopra. Despite the fact that she has an important role in the film, her role is rather small for her to show her talent as an actress.
One can say that if Agneepath has been made and promoted on a massive scale, the performances by Hrithik, Sanjay and Rishi and some astonishing stunts have ensured that the film also performs in a big way.

Star-Cast of Chaalis Chauraasi: Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Kay Kay Menon, Ravi Kissen, Shweta Bhardwaj, Rajesh Sharma, Zakir Hussain, Manoj Pahwa, Reetu Jain
Director: Hriday Shetty
Music Director: Lalit Pandit
Producer: Anuya Mhaiskar, Sachin Awasthee, Uday Shetty

A good film is a perfect mixture of many factors put together, which includes, a perfect story, a perfect screenplay, a team of perfect actors, a perfect director and with all this, a perfect execution of the story. Chaalis Chauraasi has everything going right for it but where it lacks is the execution.

Despite the fact that the audiences have proved them wrong time and again, some film makers feel that only tried and tested formulas of Bollywood can make a film hit. Director Hriday Shetty has made the same mistake in this film. Chaalis Chauraasi was a story, which gave a lot of liberty to the director to experiment and try something new. But the director has not taken this liberty with this film. After having a good story, the makers have not focused on the screenplay, which means that despite a good initial idea, what viewers have got to watch is a very ordinary film.

Chaalis Chauraasi is a story of four people, Sir [Naseeruddin Shah], Albert [Kay Kay Menon], Bobby [Atul Kulkarni] and Shakti [Ravi Kishan], who feel that they are going to change their own fortune once they accomplish the task given to them. But before they can actually take appropriate move to accomplish their task, a cop [Rajesh Sharma] takes them to catch a gangster [Zakir Hussain].

Chaalis Chauraasi is a story of a fine line between law and unlawfulness and crossing the thin line of law.

Director Hriday Shetty has devoted the first hour of Chaalis Chauraasi showing the flashback. This has proved to be a drawback for the film and makes it boring. The director should have taken the film forward rather than giving so much time to flashback.

There are some good scenes and portions but on an overall basis, the screenplay of Chaalis Chauraasi does not have the ability to keep the interest of the viewer in the film till the very end. As mentioned in the beginning itself, the main reason for this is that the execution of the script is very bad. A film like Chaalis Chauraasi needed a very strong climax but though the film picks up after interval, the climax of the film is very weak and disappointing.

The director of Chaalis Chauraasi, Hriday Shetty has shown some promise as a film maker with this film but he needed a better screenplay to showcase his talent to the fullest. The music of the film is quite average as a film like this does not need songs at all. Songs actually tend to make this film slow.

Among the star cast, it is Kay Kay, Atul Kulkarni and Rajesh Sharma, who tend to stand out with excellent performances. The remaining star cast including Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Kishen have given a decent performance. Others like Zakir Hussain, Arbaaz Ali, Shweta Bhardwaj and Manoj Pahwa have been wasted in Chaalis Chauraasi with rather small roles.

A poor screenplay and poor execution of a good story idea lets Chaalis Chauraasi down. It could have been a much better film.

Star Cast of Ghost: Shiney Ahuja, Sayali Bhagat, Tej Sapru, Deepraj Rana, Julia Bliss, Gulshan Rana, Sandip Soparrkar
Director : Puja Jatinder Bedi
Producer : Bharat Shah
As the name of the film itself tends to suggest, with Ghost, the debutant director Puja Jatinder Bedi has tried to get into the territory of horror films. But, this film fails to fulfill the basic requirement of a horror film, it does not scare you. By the time the film reaches the climax, it becomes totally boring.

The writers of the film, have tried to put in some twists and turns into the story of Ghost but again those twists and turns do not make you sit on the edge of the seat. Though the mystery angle of the film is able to attract the viewer, the songs and the romantic angle makes the film slow.

The film starts with a lady doctor Dr. Suhani [Sayali Bhagat] joining a new job in a hospital. She finds some strange incidents happening at the hospital. After a doctor and nurse die at the hospital in mysterious circumstances, a detective named Vijay [Shiney Ahuja] is deputed by an investigating agency to solve the case. Vijay finds that the spirit of the girl to whom he had got married, who was killed by his own father and disposed by the doctors and staff off this very hospital, is taking her revenge through these murders.

Ghost has been promoted as a horror film but the number of scary scenes in this film are far below than what is expected in a horror film. The basic idea of the film, where the spirit of a woman takes revenge on people, who have done injustice to her is also very old and stale. The story and screenplay of Ghost has many loopholes, which makes the film boring for the viewers.

The editing and music of Ghost is very poor. The songs of the film are out of place and make the film slow. But like most horror films, the photography of this film is excellent and a treat to watch.

The lead pair of the film Shiney Ahuja and Sayali Bhagat is one of the biggest strong points of Ghost. Both of them have given a good performance in the film. Among the remaining star cast Tej Sapru does justice to the role, while Deepraj Rana and Julia do not get much scope in the film.

One can say that with weak story and screenplay, Ghost fails to either scare or impress the viewers.

Star Cast of Players: Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Omi Vaidya, Sikander Kher, Johny Lever, Vyacheslav Razbegaev, Aftab Shivdasani, Vinod Khanna

Action films are easily able to excite the viewers and the director duo of Abbas-Mustan knows that fact fairly well. So, even at a time when various film makers are trying to make different kind of films including family oriented films and remakes of South Indian films, with Players, this team of directors have made another action thriller. Abbas-Mustan hope that just as it has been the case in the past, an action thriller will do the trick for them and they will be able to give another hit. Though, the film is a remake of a Hollywood film, the director duo has given it an Indian touch, so that fans in Bollywood can identify with it.

While making this Indian version of the Hollywood hit The Italian Job, the directors have shown a local gang that commits a burglary abroad. And by including style and attitude, which only Bollywood actors can display some excellent action stunts and locations, songs and a bit of comedy, Players has been given an Indian touch for sure. The Indian touch has made the film different and it will be wrong to compare it with the Hollywood hit now. The film is also being compared to some other films of Abhishek Bachchan, but there is no truth in such reports.

Players is a story of two small time thieves Charlie Masceranhas (Abhishek Bachchan) and Riya (Bipasha Basu). Charlie with the help of a serving prisoner in jail (Vinod Khanna) puts together a team of Riya, Ronnie [Bobby Deol], Spider [Neil Nitin Mukesh], Bilal [Sikander Kher] and Sunny [Omi Vaidya] to steal gold being transferred from Russia to Romania. The team is able to steal the gold but at the last moment Spider ditches all of them and runs away with all the gold after shooting Ronnie and leaving the rest of the team in the ice cold of Russia to die. But Charlie, Bilal and Sunny survive and with the help of Naina (Sonam Kapoor who is Vinod Khaana’s daughter), trace Spider. They not only compel Spider to come out of his Den but are able to cross-ditch him and steal his gold. Though Riya tries to help Spider but Charlie and his team kill both of them and share the stolen gold.

The film has some good and some bad points. Indeed despite being a Bollywood action film, Players is a different kind of a film. The good point in Players is that the film has a lot of twists and turns. Even till the end, the story and screenplay keeps taking twists and turns, which keeps the viewer interested in the film.

Abbas-Mustan is a well-established duo film maker from Bollywood. The team of director have always tried to do something different with their films and the same goes for Players. The action thrills and stunts in the film are very good. The look of the film, the locations and the photography of the Players are a treat to watch.

But the film also has some weak points. For a good film, its story and screenplay, which is the essence of any film, have to be very strong but that is not the case with Players. Though the film has a lot of twists and turns from beginning to end, but many of these twists and turn are stale and do not send shivers down your spine. The only twist in the film, which actually grabs the attention of the viewers, is when Neil cheats on his team.

Stealing the gold from a high security train is not as easy as it has been shown in Players. The team commits the burglary rather too easily. The scene of burglary in the train should have been longer and more thrilling. The imaginary fog created during the burglary scene also seems quite unconvincing.

The music of the film is also not very great. Music composer Pritam has not given any hit number in the film. The length of Players is also very long, which makes the film boring in some portions.

This is not the first time Abhishek Bachchan has done an action movie. But, he has done complete justice to his role and at no point looks repetitive.

The role of Bobby Deol in Players is too small. His character in the film dies in the first half of the film itself, which makes you believe that he has been wasted in the film.

Whenever Bipasha Basu has taken up a project, she gives more than 100 per cent to it. This can be said about her role in Players also. The same goes for Sonam Kapoor. Sonam is slowly learning the skills of acting and looks good in Players. Apart from Abhishek, Bipasha and Sonam are the highlight of the film.

Neil Nitin Mukesh had started his career in Bollywood with a negative role. He returns to a negative character with Players. He looks good in this role and does justice to a negative role. Apart from the main star cast, only Johny Lever looks good in his small comic role. The remaining star cast including Sikander Kher, Omi Vaidya, Vinod Khanna and Aftab Shivdasani have very insignificant and small roles to make any difference to the overall film.

Despite the weakness in its story and screenplay and rather long duration, Players can be watched for good acting by lead star cast, some amazing action scenes and good direction by Abbas-Mustan.

Star Cast of Don 2: Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Kunal Kapoor
Director: Farhan Akhtar
Producer: Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani
Music Director: Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa
Lyricst: Javed Akhtar

Don 2 is no ordinary film. When you recall Bollywood era of 1970s and 1980s, some of the films featuring Amitabh Bachchan made in that era are good enough to qualify as classics today. Indeed Don featuring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role is surely one of them. When Farhan Akhtar decided to make Don, he wasn’t just making any film, he was making a brand. The same goes for Don 2.

It goes without saying that a film maker should not try a sequel of a film unless and until he has a better story to tell than the previous one. Indeed, this time around, Farhan tells a story, which is not only brand new and interesting but the thrilling action, international locations and stunning visuals make Don 2, a great experience to watch. Farhan has tried his level best to take this film to the next level and succeeded to a large extent in what he attempted.

Since the first Don featuring Shahrukh Khan was a remake of an earlier film featuring Amitabh Bachchan, it made the scope of the film and the film maker very limited. But when it comes to Don 2, Farhan had absolutely no limitations. The director has made full use of the liberty that he could start fresh with this film. Getting to watch a totally new story also excites the viewer. They do not know what a story, which has not been told earlier, has to offer. The trilling film, where a dangerous Don has an agenda to accomplish, is quite interesting to watch.

This time around, Don (Shahrukh Khan) shows to what extent he can go to achieve his goals. First, he intentionally gets himself arrested to go to jail in front of cops, who are looking for him (Om Puri and Priyanka Chopra are the top cops). But Don’s real intentions of getting himself arrested and go to jail is to get Vardhan [Boman Irani] out of the jail so that the two can form a team with others and theft the printing plates of European currency. Don also hires a computer expert Sameer [Kunal Kapoor] to help him in his plans. But whereas Vardhan and others are helping Don for the sake of money, they do not know the exact plan of Don. Don with the help of Sameer and his girl fiend Ayesha (Lara Dutta) not only makes fool of Vardhan and company by getting them arrested after stealing the printing plates of European currency but also makes fool of the police and runs away with the original plates.

The story and the screenplay of the film have been written in an excellent way. But despite selecting a good story, Farhan has made a couple of flaws in telling it. The first hour of Don 2 is a bit slow. The film only picks up after the interval, where the action sequences are excellent.

Right from the time when Farhan made his first film as a director, Dil Chahta Hai, he has established himself as one of the better directors of the younger generation. Though the script and the screenplay of Don 2 may be slightly slow, you cannot raise any finger towards Farhan as a director. He has done excellent work as a director even in this film.

Just like many other films made in 1970s and 1980s, which featured Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles, the original Don had some memorable dialogues. Though most films do not focus on dialogues these days, the dialogues of this film, especially Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, na-mumkin hain, will remain in the memory of the people for a long time. Just like Mr Bachchan, the dialogues of many of Shahrukh’s films like Bazigar and Darr not only have been super hit but are recited by people even today. The dialogues of Don 2 are also going to be a super hit and people will remember them for times to come.

Apart from a slightly weak story and a somewhat boring first hour, another drawback of the film is its music. Despite the scope in the screenplay, the music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is rather weak and there is not even a single track in Don 2 that will linger in the mind of people for long.

The cinematography and action of Don 2 are not only excellent but the highlight of the film.

Don 2 is an important film for Shahrukh because with this film, he returns to negative roles after a gap of many years. It is very difficult for an actor to look sinful and attractive together at the same time but Shahrukh does this with ease. He also tries varied looks in this film and each one of them suits him perfectly.

Priyanka Chopra has good role and her performance is also good in the film. Lara Dutta also does justice to her small role.

Kunal Kapoor, Boman Irani, Nawab Shah, Alyy Khan and Sahil Shroff have all given a good performance in the film. Hrithik Roshan appears for just one scene in Don 2. But, Om Puri has a rather small role for him to show his acting skills.

The first hour of the film may be a little weak and there may be a couple of flaws in the script as well, but watch this film for a powerful second half and good performances by the main star cast. Yes, the film has been sold on its star power and brand value but the hype created around it is not all that wrong because Don 2 is a decent watch.

Star Cast of Pappu Can’t Dance Saala : Neha Dhupia, Vinay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjay Mishra
Director : Saurabh Shukla
Producer : Ravindra Singh, Sameer Nair

In 1970s, directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee made films, which had common man as its main character and such movies were very successful in connecting with the common man. With Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, director Saurabh Shukla has tried to make a movie that represents the same gene.

In the past, Saurabh has made some interesting films and this story of how a shy boy from small town adjusts in a metropolitan city is no different. The film highlights this boy’s interaction with a city girl and how they fall in love. The film shows how two people, who are totally opposite in nature, get attracted to each-other in the end. Suarabh also integrates the odd couple track in the plot. The plot of the film is such, where the director could incorporate a lot of humour and Pappu Can’t Dance Saala has some good lighter moments in it.

Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is about a simple man Vidyadhar [Vinay Pathak], who shift from Banaras to Mumbai. Whereas the man from small town finds it difficult to adjust in a big city, a Bollywood dancer Mehak [Neha Dhupia] knows every trick in the book to survive in the city. The film is about these two people, who do not share anything common in them, getting caught in the same room.

Saurabh Shukla is known for making some good artistic films in the past but Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is a pure commercial film. Though, Vinay has been seen in similar characters earlier as well, he looks refreshing in this film. The start of the film is very promising. Some scenes of the film like the one where Vinay and Neha clash for the first time are a treat to watch. Even some other scenes featuring the two are very good.

But the story and screenplay of the film slips after the interval. It seems many of the scenes and sequences in the second half of the film seem old and have been seen earlier in some other film. The film also fails to impress in other ways. The romantic angle of the lead pair as shown in the film is poor and the climax is also not exciting enough for the audience.

The direction by Saurabh Shukla is quite impressive but a poor script does not allow him to use his skills to the fullest. The cinematography and music of Pappu Can’t Dance Saala are just okay but there is nothing extra special in them to be mentioned separately.

Vinay Pathak is excellent in the film. He looks quite natural in the character. It is the magic of his skills as an actor that despite having been seen in similar roles in other films as well, he looks fresh in Pappu Can’t Dance Saala. Neha Dhupia also gives a sparkling performance in the film. She looks fabulous in the film.

Apart from the main star cast, one other actor, who leaves a mark with the small role in the film, is Naseeruddin Shah. He looks good in Pappu Can’t Dance Saala. Among the rest of the star cast, Brijendra Kala does justice to his role. One disappointment in the film is Rajat Kapoor. He is a talented actor and is capable of much more but his small character in the film does not give him much scope to show what he can otherwise do.

Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is good for watching once. Had the script been better and the film been more engaging after interval, this one could have been a far bigger entertainer.

Love stories are the most popular theme in Bollywood. Take a young pair, add some romance to the story, then add some sweet moments to it and a few songs and a Bollywood love story is ready. Apart from changing a few situations and names, most romantic movies in the Hindi film world say the same thing. Such films also unite the lead pair in the end and give you a feel good factor, which the viewers of the Hindi film world enjoy a lot.

Jo Hum Chahein, made by first time director Pawan Gill deals with the problems and struggles that youth of today goes through. The film has some interesting twists and turns, which keep you engaged throughout. As an urban youth, you also identify with the story and characters of the film.

Jo Hum Chahein is a story of a 24 years old MBA graduate Rohan [Sunny Gill], who wants to succeed quickly in life and is ready to do anything for it. He meets Neha [Simran Mundi] after he moves to Mumbai as a stockbroker. Neha on the other hand, wants to pursue a career in acting. Though she believes in love, she hasn’t fallen in love because she is yet to find true love.

Jo Hum Chahein apart from narrating how two people fall in love also shows two people follow their respective dreams. Though being totally different and having different desires and aspirations from life, the two come close.

The Sunny’s character and how Alyy Khan uses him and finally repents her actions is not properly explained in Jo Hum Chahein. Even the angle of the story relating to the lead male actor of the film being a stock broker is not totally clear.

The direction of Jo Hum Chahein by Pawan Gill is good. Some scenes in the film like the confrontation of the lead pair and how the hero realizes the importance of love in the end have been filmed beautifully.

The music, cinematography and choreograph of Jo Hum Chahein are good.

The lead pair of the film Sunny Gill and Simran Mundi have given a good performance. The supporting star cast of Alyy Khan, Achint Kaur, Yuri Suri, Samar Virmani, Mansi Multani and Rithvik Dhanjani have all done justice to their respective roles.

Jo Hum Chahein is an enjoyable film that can be watched once.

Star Cast of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl: Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma, Aditi Sharma
Director: Maneesh Sharma
Producer: Aditya Chopra
Music Director: Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant

The expectations from the new release of the week, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl are very high. This is a presentation by Yashraj Productions, which makes all its films on a grand scale and fill their films with total entertainment and this film of theirs is no different. The expectations from this film are also high because it comes from the team of Band Baaja Baarat, which was one of the biggest hit of 2010.But whereas there were hardly any expectations from Band Baaja Baarat, people are looking forward to what the team of Anushka Sharma and Ranvir Singh has to offer with this one.

Many people are saying that Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is a copy of some Hollywood films and even has a lot of resemblance with some of the earlier films made by Yashraj productions itself. But this charge proves baseless when you see the film. This film has a totally new story, which does not resemble any other film.

Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is a story of a con-man (Ranvir Singh). He pretends to be in love with the daughter of a Delhi-based high profile property dealer Dimple [Parineeti Chopra]. When the father of the girl objects, he tells him a false story that he owns a prime property in central Delhi. He sells the property to the businessman that doesn’t even belong to him and runs away with Rs 20 Lacs. This is not the first time this con-man has made fool of a lady. He married and took advance from a lady in Lakhnow Saira [Aditi Sharma] promising her to get a rare designer clothing line. Then he sells a painting to a lady working in a corporate house saying that this particular painting has been made by M F Hussain, when it is not. After the report of this painting is flashed on Television, the three girls contact each-other. The girls realize that whereas this con-man changes his name and phone number every time he approaches a new girl, his caller tune on his cell phone remains the same.

The girls trace him with the help of his caller tune and try to get back their money with the help of another smart sales girl Ishika [Anushka Sharma]. But whereas Ishika falls in love with the con-man, he also finds out that the three girls are trying to take revenge from him through Ishika. But, love awakens the consciousness of this con-man and for the sake of his love, he returns the money to the three ladies, he had cheated earlier.

All the three stories, which lead to the build-up to the post-interval story, have been well written and picturized. The first half of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl has some highly engaging moments.

Now, there are both good and bad points in the story and screenplay of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. The best part of the story is that through the three ladies, the writers have signified the fact that today’s woman is independent and can take care of herself and her responsibilities. If someone tries to cheat or make a fool out of her, the woman of today can even show him the right way.

Director Maneesh Sharma has not been able to do justice to this film according to his potential. The beginning and the climax of the film are excellent but the film falters in the middle. The dialogues, lyrics, music, choreography and cinematography of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl are excellent.

Booth Anushka and Ranbir have given an excellent performance in the film. The fans of Anushka have not seen her do anything like this before and will enjoy her performance. This role seems to be written for Ranvir and he is just superb in the film.

Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma have done justice to their respective characters.

Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl has a good start and a good ending but it falters somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, the film does fulfil the huge promise, which Maneesh Sharma had shown as a director after Band Baaja Baarat. But if you are a fan of Anushka and Ranvir, watch this one for their excellent performances.

Star Cast of Dirty Picture: Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi, Tusshar Kapoor, Imran Hasnee, Anju Mahendroo, Rajesh Sharma, Mangal Kenkre, Shivani Tanskale

Making a movie like The Dirty Picture can be quite challenging for a film maker because the director has to decide what to choose and what to leave in a story of a film based on the life of an individual, who is a famous personality. Moreover, whatever is being sold by calling it a true story may not be fully authentic because the director has to incorporate the entertainment factor into the story purely for commercial aspect of cinema, which may not exist in the real life of that individual. Thus, what is being shown on the screen may not be completely true and authentic.

Making a somewhat different movie may be a slightly challenging task for the producers, who in this case were Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. But thanks to the writers of The Dirty Picture, who have pen down an effective story and good direction by Milan Luthria has ensured that the film lives up to this challenge and is an entertaining biopic.

Moreover, though the film tells the story of a particular actress Silk, who struggles and despite not being the main lead actress leaves a mark on her films, it is a story of many small time actresses of the film world, who would do anything for a role. Many of these ladies, just like The Dirty Picture’s lead character, have left a valuable mark on the Hindi film industry.

The Dirty Picture does not focus only on the sensuous factor of the main character but it highlights the pain and frustration she goes through during the phases of her struggle and success.
The Dirty Picture is a story of a girl Silk Smitha (Vidya Balan), who runs away from her home to be an actress. After much struggle she gets a small role, where she has to beat herself. The difficult scene is deleted from the film during final editing by the critically acclaimed director (Emraan Hashmi). First the film flops but the shows of the film go houseful when the scene of the silk is added to the film again. The producer of the film gives another chance to Silk with the Southern Superstar (Naseeruddin Shah). Silk makes the best of the chances she gets and uses every means including seducing big stars to make it to the top. Silk makes it so big that the younger brother of the superstar (Tushar Kapoor plays the younger brother of Naseeruddin Shah in the film), who is a writer, even proposes to marry her but at the peak of her career, Silk refuses him. But as the time passes, the charm of Silk gets over and other younger girls start getting the kind of offers, which were meant for Silk. Silk even tries her luck in production but fails and financial problems take her to the world of porn films. Though, the critically acclaimed director tries to help her but it’s too late.
In short, The Dirty Picture tells a story of the rise and the fall of a girl in Southern film industry in the 1980s. Though a junior artist, the girl becomes the most sought-after girl of her times and then falls from the top.
The director has managed to portray the different aspects of a women’s life in a beautiful way through The Dirty Picture. Though Silk uses every means to reach the top but at the end of the day, she is an ordinary woman at heart and feels heart when someone uses her and even pledges to not allow anyone to take undue advantage of her after a point of time.
By choosing a female centric subject and telling a tragic story of a female, the director had taken a big risk. This is a very unusual subject and can fall flat if not dealt with properly. But despite dealing with a female centric subject, the director has made sure that the entertainment factor in The Dirty Picture never goes down. The script, screenplay, dialogue and direction of the film are excellent. The story of the film moves at an excellent pace. Right from the beginning to end, there are various scenes in the film, which hold the attention of the viewer. Apart from the small portion after the interval where Vidya and Emraan develop feelings for each other, the film moves at a good pace throughout.
The music, choreography, cinematography and direction of The Dirty Picture are also excellent.
Vidya Balan is known for trying different kind of roles in the past. This was a different kind of a role for her where she had to look a little sensuous. Vidya has not only done that but given an excellent performance in the film.
Naseeruddin Shah excels as a South Indian super star in the film. His look and sense of dressing-up makes him appear like a South Indian star of 1980s.
Both Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar excel in small roles in the film.
Other actors in the film including Anju Mahendru, Shivani Tanskale and Mangal Kenkre also do justice to their roles.
With a story of an ordinary lady, who rises to the top and then falls, the script of The Dirty Picture is able to connect with the viewer. Having a good sensuous story to offer, this film is a total entertainer to watch.
