Star Cast of Miley Naa Miley Hum: Chirag Paswan, Kangna Ranaut, Kabir Bedi, Poonam Dhillon, Sagarika Ghatge, Neeru Singh, Dalip Tahil, Suresh Menon, Kunal Kumar, Shweta Tiwari

Since love stories are considered a safe bet as a launch vehicle for newcomers, the makers of Miley Naa Miley Hum have also depended upon a love story for launching the new hero Chirag Paswan, who makes his debut with this film. But the different angles in the film like the hero trying to settle the differences between his parents and the sport of tennis being an integral part of the story makes it interesting.

Miley Naa Miley Hum may not be as good as some other love stories made in the past to launch the stars, but it is quite good in parts. The track of the story between the parents of the hero is also good.

This film tells the story of Chirag [Chirag Paswan],who is lonely at heart because his father Siddharth [Kabir Bedi], a vineyard owner and business women mother Shalini [Poonam Dhillon] separated when he was a small child and he has to live with both of them on a monthly basis. Chirag desperately wants the two to come together. As he grows up both the parents want him to get married to the girl of their choice. To avoid marriage, Chirag shows them a model Anishka [Kangna Ranaut] and says he loves her. Both the parents try to lure the model to their side. Meanwhile Chirag sees this as an opportunity to bring his parents close and makes an offer to Anishka to help him.

The film has good pace that doesn’t let people get bored. The director has also extended the sub-plot of the film to the right extent. There are no unnecessary emotional scenes in the film to make you cry.

Miley Naa Miley Hum has some major drawbacks. The love story between Chirag and Kangna could have been shown in a better manner. The climax is also a little weak.

The direction is just okay and the music and the cinematography of the film are good.

Though Chirag looks good on screen but he needs to polish his acting skills. Kangna Ranaut has done justice to her role but going by her look, she suits more to glamor roles. That glamour element is missing in Miley Naa Miley Hum. One fails to understand how could the director skip the glamour element in her character when Kangna was playing a model in this film?

Both Kabir Bedi and Poonam Dhillon have looked good in their roles. Sagarika, Neeru and Kunal Kumar have done justice to their roles. Dalip Tahil and Suresh Menon have done their part with satisfaction.

Miley Naa Miley Hum on a whole is a light-hearted entertainer, that can be enjoyed once.

Star Cast of Loot: Govinda, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Shweta Bhardwaj, Jaaved Jaaferi, Rakhi Sawant, Suniel Shetty, Ravi Kissen, Mika Singh, Kim Sharma, Razzak Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Dalip Tahil, Prem Chopra, Deepraj Rana, Shehzad Khan

Despite the fact that Suniel Shetty’s production house was involved in the making of Loot, the film has taken much time to reach the theatres. The impact of this delay shows on the film and has affected this Rajnish Raj directorial venture adversely.

Loot is a story of four small times thieves in India Pandit [Govinda], Builder [Suniel Shetty], Akbar [Jaaved Jaaferi] and Wilson [Mahakshay Chakraborty), who are so useless that they cannot even commit theft properly. The four are assigned a project by a local goon (Dilip Tahil) to commit a burglary in Pattaya, Thailand. In Pattaya, they are to be helped by a local girl. On reaching the place of the robbery, they find out that they have got into a trap because the man at whose house they are committing the theft is a very big Don (Mahesh Manjrekar). The four are also being watch by a cop (Ravi Kishen), who himself is corrupt. The four commit the theft and apart from the cash, steal a set of audio cassettes, which were in the locker. The girl, who was assigned to help them ditches the four and runs away with the cash and the cassettes. The four take the help of a local small time goon (Mika) to reach the girl and trace her. They even steal a car for their motives in Pattaya. Though they leave the girl’s place after recovering the cash and the cassettes, but they are charged with murder after the corrupt cop comes and kills the girl.

Now everyone is after them. Their Indian, master, who had sent them there for the burglary so that he can get his brother, locked in Pattaya jail released, the local Don of Pattaya and the man, whose car they had stolen. The local small time goon (Mika) comes back to help them but a local shopkeeper, who is linked to the underworld informs their location to everyone. The four soon find out that they are being targeted because of the cassettes, which contain a plan to kill Lala (Prem Chopra), who heads the underworld mafia in the city. In the end whereas all the Dons fight among themselves, the four are able to get out of the mess with the help of Lala.

Loot is a story that is built around formulas seen thousands of times in various Bollywood films. Though the director Rajnish Thakur has tried his best, both the story and the screenplay are not too effective to let him make a remarkable film.

There is also nothing remarkable about the music of the film.
The film is short in length. It seems that since Loot took so much time in making, the makers also lost interest in the film. The pace of the film is alright but things happen rather fast at the climax for it to be effective.

The best part of the film is Suniel Shetty. Since he has been a part of action films in the past, he has been able to look effective in the role. Javed Jaaferi too does a fine job in the film. He looks good both in comic and action scenes. Govinda is also good in the film but it would have been better if his role had more of a comic input in it.
Mahakshay has to learn a lot to be a good actor. He is still learning and will take time to be effective.

The two lead ladies in the film Shweta Bhardwaj and Kim Sharma do not have a big enough role to leave a mark.
Prem Chopra, Dilip Tahil and Mika have done justice to their respective roles. Shehzad Khan and Razzaq Khan are as usual.
Mahesh Manjrekar though has not been able to do justice to his role. He does not look like a don in the film. Being a good actor, he is capable of much more.

Loot is a complete Bollywood masala film. It is a good attempt and had it been made a few years back, it could have been an effective film. But the delay has made this sincere try by director Rajnish Thakur turn into a rather stale film. So, if you have free time and you are a Suniel Shetty fan, you can watch it once.

Star Cast of Ra. One: Shahrukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Armaan Verma, Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Satish Shah, Dalip Tahil, Shahana Goswami, Suresh Menon, Tom Wu,
Rajinikanth, Mushtaq Sheikh

Throughout the promotion of this highly awaited film, producer Shahrukh Khan has maintained that success or failure does not matter much to Ra.One because it is a different kind of a film. Indeed, once you watch the film, you realize that Shahrukh was right in his analysis.

In Ra.One Shahrukh has attempted a film, which appeals both to the kids and general public that goes to see Bollywood movies. With this film, Shahrukh has tried to change the perception that films made with a theme that is basically a little childish cannot entertain grown-up people.

Ra.One is more than an ordinary Bollywood film. Whereas there has been a general trend in the industry that a film can be made with only certain fixed formulas that have always worked over here, this film changes the perception and tells us that a wonderful treat for the eyes can be created if modern day technology is used in a proper manner. In fact, an efficient use of the modern technology can turn an ordinary story and screenplay into a wonderful film, as seen in Ra.One.

This is a story of Shekhar [Shahrukh Khan], who has nothing going right for him. His job in an animation company is in danger because his boss (Dilip Tahil) finds him useless and even his own son does not find him cool. In such circumstances, to fulfil the wish of his son and impress him, Shekhar makes a game where the villain is more powerful than the hero. But, Shekhar and his company make a mistake of celebrating the success of their project without properly testing the game. The first person to realize the fault in the game is Shekhar’s son, who prefers to play the game rather than being a part of the party to celebrate the launch of the game. Shekhar’s son goes to the level of the game, which has not been tested as yet. And then he finds out that the villain of the game Ra.One comes out of the virtual world and tries to harm Lucifer, the name used by Shekhar’s son to play the game. Since Ra.One wants to kill everyone who knows Lucifer, he kills Shekhar and even others at his office. Confident of defeating Ra.One, Shekhar’s son goes back to his father’s office and activates G.One (Shahrukh’s second role), the superhero who can fight the evil. Shekhar’s wife Sonia (Kareena Kapoor) on the other hand decides to move to India and her native place to protect her son and herself from Ra.One. But since G.One helps them in India and Sonia decides to let him be with her. Meanwhile Ra.One finds out the location of Lucifer and tries to once again kill Sonia and her son.

Though, superhero films have been made in Bollywood and Indian cinema even before, what makes Ra.One work is its superb execution and the brilliant use of modern technology. It’s a film made with brain, which despite being of international standards in terms of technology, is very Indian at heart. The excellent execution make the audience look forward to what is going to happen next and the action and thrills in Ra.One are just wonderful to watch.

Ra.One is a mixture of a pure Indian story mixed with superb international technology. Whether it’s the train sequence in the second hour or the first chase sequence, where Ra.One tries to chase Lucifer, scenes in the film are not only excellently filmed but the use of modern technology has made them look even more wonderful. The entry of superhero in the film is also a treat to watch. The scene featuring Rajnikanth and the climax are equally good.

The music of Ra.One is a treat to the ears and the director has made sure that songs by Vishal-Shekhar fit in the film without making it slow. The cinematography by Nicola Pecorini and V. Manikandan, action by Andy Gill and Spiro Razatos, dialogue Kanika Dhillon and Niranjan Iyengar and set designs by Robert Kurtzman in the film are equally good.

When you have a simple story in hand like it was the case with the script of Ra.One, it is not easy for a director to improvise and make an entertaining film by offering something new. Director Anubhav Sinha needs to be complemented that with the use of modern technology, he has not only made an impressive film but also managed to keep the pace of the film fast enough to keep the interest of the viewer. It seems that director had visualized what the audience going to watch a superhero film can expect and if not with the story, he has at fulfilled those expectations with the visual content shown in the film.

The humour in the first part of the film seems to be an integral part of the screenplay of Ra.One and does not look as if it has been enforced in the story.

Shahrukh Khan has a double role in Ra.One and when you look at the film you feel that both these characters were written just for him. Kareena’s character did have some emotional scenes and despite a difficult role she has given a wonderful performance. Other actors like Shahana Goswami, Dalip Tahil, Satish Shah, Suresh Menon, Mushtaq Shiekh and Tom Wu fit perfectly into their respective roles.

Apart from Shahrukh and Kareena, Ra.One revolves round a small child, who is Shahrukh’s son in the film. This was again a tough role and Armaan Verma, the child artist, who gives an excellent performance on screen. The characters of Rajnikanth, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra are far too small to make any impact on the film.

By the way, where is Arjun Rampal in the film? The number of minutes and the number of scenes for which he appears on the screen can be counted on fingers. Though Arjun has done justice to his character and looks great on screen, one wishes that he had more screen presence in Ra.One.

On an overall basis, the performances by the actors including Shahrukh and Kareena, good director by Anubhav Sinha, use of technology and visual effects have made sure that despite a weak story, you can enjoy Ra.One at least one time.

Star Cast of Tell Me O Khuda: Esha Deol, Vinod Khanna, Abhay Pratap, Rishi Kapoor, Arjan Bajwa, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Sudhanshu Pandey, Dharmendra, Farooq Sheikh, Hema Malini
Deepti Naval, Salman Khan, Johny Lever, Gurbachan, Madhoo

Ironically, when Hema Malini decided to direct a film after a gap of 19 long years, she chose a subject, which had huge similarities with her first directorial venture Dil Aashna Hai. Whereas in her first film, the lead lady in the film is looking for her mother, in Tell Me O Khuda, she searches her father. This search takes her not only to various parts of India but even abroad.

Indeed, the concept of Tell Me O Khuda isn’t new and in the past has been used by many Indian film makers like Yash Chopra and even film makers abroad. But, a girl going to search her parents is an emotional subject, which has incredible potential to be exploited. Hema has tried to exploit that potential only.

Though the plot and the basic story idea is right, Hema Malini gets the screenplay horribly wrong, which makes a good idea suffer a lot. The three stories in the film are able to hold your interest at some points but those points are far too less and far in-between to make you sit throughout the film. And what actually needs to be the strongest in a film, the climax is the weakest point in the film that is totally unconvincing to watch. The director tries to turn Tell Me O Khuda into a total formula film by the time it reaches the climax and this fails to work with the audiences.

Though Tanya [Esha Deol] has been brought-up by a loving parents [Farooque Shaikh, Deepti Naval], she wants to search her biological father. This search takes the gusty and strong headed girl to places and she meets three men, Abhay [Vinod Khanna], a royal by birth who is revered for integrity; Altaf [Rishi Kapoor], a sophisticated Indian settled in Turkey; Anthony [Dharmendra], a gangster.

Among the three stories in Tell Me O Khuda, it is the story featuring Rishi, the NRI, which looks real and holds the interest of the viewer. The section containing Vinod, is also good but also has some flaws in it. Some scenes like the camel race, which fails to excite you as a viewer, could have been made better. But, despite the scenes between father and daughter looking good, it is the section featuring Dharmendra, which is the weakest. If Hema Malini as a director wanted to make an emotional movie, then that emotional content is missing in the section where Dharmendra features. For a change, the scenes between Hema and Dharmendra are also highly disappointing and do not work.

Hema Malini had shown her potential as a director with Dil Aashna Hai. Though her direction in Tell Me O Khuda is also good, the weak story and screenplay do not allow her to give her best in this film. She must choose a better script to showcase her talent as a director. The music of the film by Pritam and the cinematography of the film are good.

Esha Deol has done a good job in the film. She needs to be complemented for that fact that despite the presence of some accomplished actors like Dharmendra, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Farooque Shaikh and Deepti Naval, all of whom have given a good performance, she has been able to leave a mark as an actor with Tell Me O Khuda.

Chandan Roy Sanyal, Sudhanshu Pandey, Madhoo and Johny Lever have also done justice to their roles while Arjan Bajwa does not get much scope in her small role.

Hema Malini also appears in Tell Me O Khuda in a small role but unlike some other films in the recent past, where she left a mark even in a small role, she fails to impress in this film.

With a poor story and screenplay, Tell Me O Khuda may not have much scope at the box office. If you are a fan of Esha or Hema Malini or any other big star featuring in this film, you can watch this one otherwise, you cannot be blamed for missing it.

Star Cast of Azaan: Sachiin Joshi, Dalip Tahil, Candice Boucher, Aarya Babbar, Alyy Khan, Ravi Kissen, Sachin Khedekar, Sajid Hassan, Samy Gharbi, Vijayendra Ghatge,
Sarita Chowdhury, Amber Rose Revah, Neet Mohan

If the society is finding new ways to fight terrorism, those who spread this menace in the society are also finding new ways to make people suffer. One of them is biological warfare, which is spreading in various parts of the world and different countries have to make their own arrangements in this regard. Azaan speaks of this very problem, which has created a new fear across the world.

Azaan had a very good story in hand but suffers from the very same drawback, which most films in Bollywood do. It has a great story idea but has not been shown properly on the screen to attain the required results, which it otherwise should have. The story of the film despite travelling through various stages, countries and continents, does not create the kind of fear, a film like Azaan should have created. This is due to poor screenplay. Since such a story has never been seen on the Indian screen before, there was a lot of scope in the film, which could have helped director Prashant Chadha to turn this into a thriller. The director could have made this film into a perfect thriller, which he has not done. The audiences also fail to connect to the film emotionally.

When you are making a film, the first challenge with the director is to choose a good story and then have a solid screenplay. It seems Prashant Chadha didn’t focus on the screenplay of the film, which remained weak, turning Aazaan into a weak film. The point here is that the issue of bioterrorism is new for the Indian audience, and the writers and the director of the film should have taken some pain to explain the issue so that the viewer can connect to the movie. The screenplay makes no effort in this direction. The story also needed the director to be realistic and not to be too innovative. While writing the screenplay, the writers have added few things in the film, they could easily do without. Azaan also moves from one place to another, one country to another very fast, which confuses the viewer even further.

The film is a story of Aazaan [Sachiin Joshi], who while doing his duty of spying finds out that his brother Aman [Neet Mohan] may be working for terrorists and anti-social elements. On investigating deeper, he comes across a doctor [Sajid Hassan], who wants to destroy India. Azaan, struggles to save both his brother and his country.

The director of the film has tried very hard to overcome a weak screenplay by being effective in other departments. Not only is the directoion of the film effective but even the music and the background score of Azaan is excellent. The fight scenes are also well executed. The cameraman has captured the beauty various countries and continents, in which the film is picturized into his camera.

For a film like Azaan to do well, the actions scenes have to be perfect. Though some action scenes in the film like the car chase are shot well, they are extremely less in number to impress the viewer. The climax of the film also fails to be impressive.

The lead actor of the film Sachiin Joshi has a good screen appearance but his dialogue delivery leaves much to be desired. Among other actors of the film, Ravi Kissen , Alyy Khan , Vijayendra Ghatge , Samy Gharbi, Neet Mohan and Sarita Choudhury get their part and act right and are impressive in the film. On the other hand, there are many actors in Aazaan like Dalip Tahil, Sajid Hassan, Aarya Babbar, Candice Boucher and Sachin Khedekar who either have a very small role in the film or fail to give an impressive performance.

Azaan has a good story idea but it fails to translate into a good film due to poor screenplay. Those, who like action movies can watch this once.

Star Cast of Mod: Ayesha Takia, Rannvijay Singh, Raghuveer Yadav, Tanvi Azmi and Ananth Mahadevan

Nagesh Kukunoor is a smart guy. Whereas many film makers try to spend enormous amount on their films and shoot at foreign locations, this director believes in cutting down cost and shoot in moderate locations, which are not lavishing. His films aim to perform on the basis of their content and not the star cast. Nagesh’s new film Mod is no difference.

Agreed, Mod does not start in that emphatic manner as some of the other films of the director do but it catches up and looks like an impactful film as it reaches the climax.

Mod, which is inspired from a foreign film, is a challenge for this young director. With this film, Nagesh is trying to venture into a whole new territory of love stories. But, in the world of Bollywood, where love stories hit screen every Friday, the film maker had to offer something new and different.

The film is a story of a girl named Aranya [Ayesha Takia), who lives in a peaceful hill station. She owns a small store where she sells and repairs watches. One day a stranger Andy [Rannvijay], comes to her shop to get a watch repaired. Andy, who is extremely shy, keeps returning to the shop, until the two fall in love. Andy though has a past which can ruin this relationship forever.

The characters of both Aranya and Andy as shown in the film are quite interesting. They fall in love despite being opposite to each-other. A film of this sort needed the director to handle his two main characters tactfully and maturely and Nagesh has done a brilliant job in the way he has portrayed his characters. Though the director has made emotional films in the past as well, he is not known for showcasing such emotions through his characters as in this film.

The director has a good story in hand and shown his skills in handling it.

But the film has drawbacks. Mod is too long and moves too slowly for the viewer to keep the interest intact throughout the film. As a viewer, you would expect the director to conclude the film fast once the identity of Rannvijay is revealed. That surprisingly does not happen. The film gets so slow at places that the viewer is irritated. The track of Rannvijay’s parents seems out of context. The director could have easily done without it. The climax of the film is also slow. One of the reasons for this slow pace of the film is its editing, which is extremely poor. Even the sequences, which are interesting get too long to bear.

The element of surprise is missing in the film. Had Rannvijay’s identity come as a surprise to viewers, it could have made the film a little more interesting. That doesn’t happen either. The audience also fails to understand why Rannvijay goes to the shop time and again. You just cannot understand the logic behind it.

The music of the film also contributes in slowing down the film. But the direction and the cinematography are the highlights of the film.

Nagesh Kukunoor has taken the best work from all his actors. Ayesha Takia’s comeback film has brought the best out of her. She had given an excellent performance even when she worked with the director the last time around and the story is the same again. Rannvijay has not been able to impress with any of his previous performances so far but it seems this role was written just for him.

The remaining star cast including Raghubir Yadav, Tanvi Azmi. Anant Mahadevan, Rushad Rana and Nikhil Ratnaparkhi have done justice to their roles.

Mod is a good effort by Nagesh Kukunoor but due to its slow pace, it appeals only in bits and pieces.

Star Cast of Force: Stars : John Abraham, Genelia Dsouza, Vidyut Jamwal, Raj Babbar, Mohnish Bahl.
Music Director: Harris Jayaraj, Lalit Pandit
Lyricst: Javed Akhtar

These days the remakes of some South Indian films, especially the remake of action movies from the South seem to work big times in Bollywood. Films like Wanted and off-late Singham have made the producers from Bollywood look more seriously towards these remakes. Stars like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are all willing to sign such remakes and with these films working, the remaining actors in the industry are not far behind.

With Force, John Abraham who is the hero of the film has tried two things. First, like Salman and Ajay, he has tried to win the heart of his fans by featuring in the remake of a South Indian film and he has also ensured that he once again is a part of a pure action film.

Most of these remakes of the South Indian films are seeing a certain trend. Along with the action, the directors of such films are also inserting a love story into these films so that they can provide a complete entertainer for all kind of audiences. Force is also a fight between good and the evil, where the director uses all the elements of a formula film, which got popular in 1970s and 80s. But then, even with this highly predictable story, the director has managed to insert some twist and turns that manage to keep the viewer interested in what’s going on the screen.

This is a story of a senior narcotics officer Yashvardhan [John Abraham], who despite not following the rule book ensures that justice is done to everyone. The office, who believes in getting rid of the criminal to end the crime, meets a ruthless criminal Vishnu [Vidyut Jammwal] and Vishnu wants to finish off Yashvardhan because he has suffered a heavy loss in his drug business due to the ways adopted by the narcotics department.

Yashvardhan decides to mend his ways and tries to go soft with his enemies after he falls in love with Maya [Genelia D'Souza]. He has to make choices between his profession and love. But at the very same time, he has to face the heat from Vishnu, who is all out to destroy Yashvardhan.

With the pace of the movie, sharp dialogues, use of the modern technology, run and catch sequences and a captivating climax, Force, despite having a very ordinary story manages to keep you at the edge of the seat. The action sequences of the film are extremely good.

The film starts with a bang. The first hour of the film is a delight. Director Nishikant Kamat has done a very good job in the first half. Force does slip a bit in the second hour but for a very short period of time. It again catches up with its pace after the interval.

The music of Force is excellent and the songs seem to be a part of the story rather than making the film slow. The choreography and the cinematography of the film are very good. But for an action film like Force to do well, the actions scenes need to be captivating. The highlight of the film is indeed some of its action sequences. A chase sequence and the climax have been shot beautifully.

Though most stars are trying it at some point or the other, but just like in case of Salman, watching the muscular body of John is a totally different experience for the viewers. John left everyone spell bound with his muscles in Dhoom and Dostana and he has done the same again with Force. With his body in the film, John actually makes you believe that he can do action. John’s acting skills have also improved over the time. He looks like senior narcotics officer in the film.

Right from the days of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Genelia D’Souza has developed an image of a sweet girl and used it to perfection. Her character in Force is no different to this image.

But the surprise package of the film is newcomer Vidyut Jammwal, who really gets noticed in the negative role. Irrespective of the fate of Force, Vidyut is going to get many more offers after this role.

Mohnish Bahl, Sandhya Mridul, Amit Gaurr, Kamlesh Sawant and Mukesh Rishi also give an excellent performance in Force. But on the other hand, Raj Babbar and Anaitha Nair do not get much scope in the film.

A film like this needs a certain pace. It is the way this simple story has been executed, which makes Force a watchable film.

Star Cast of Mausam: Shahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher
Aditi Sharma, Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, Vaibhav Talwar

Mausam is important because being the first movie of director Punkaj Kapur, it has generated a lot of excitement and anticipation. Though Punkaj may not have too many movies to his credit as an actor but whenever he has appeared on the screen, he has been appreciated by the viewers. Now, as he comes-up with his first directorial venture, the expectations are very high. People also want to see the professional chemistry between father Punkaj, who directs this film and son Shahid Kapur, who is the lead actor.
The film has been promoted like a great love story, where the couple, deeply in love, fights against all odds and unite in the end. The promos of the film tend to indicate that Mausam will be an addition to the modern day love stories on screen, like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Dil, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or for that matter Shahid’s own films like Ishq Vishk and Jab We Met, which we all remember as classic love stories. Mausam too, is suppose to tell a story of a decade, where lovers fight against all odds to unite in the end. The story of the film also takes into account how some historic incidents between the year 1990 and 2000 such as demolition of Babri Masjid, Mumbai and Gujrat Riots and the Kargil war affect the lives of the two main characters of the film. Despite being a love story, the film narrates how incidents such as these cause sufferings to the human kind as a whole.
But, a film does not sell and do well only on the basis of a good story idea. That idea has to be transformed into a script and then presented on the celluloid in a manner, which impresses the audience. Mausam fails miserably in that transformation.
Mausam starts in a village in Punjab, where a very young boy Harry [Shahid Kapoor] meets and gets attracted to a young Kashmiri girl Aayat [Sonam Kapoor). Slowly this attraction turns into love. But the two actually realize that they are made for one another only when they get separated. Ultimately, after going through a lot of pain, love brings them close once again and they unite.
Unfortunately, Mausam falters at the scripting stage itself. The script and the screenplay of the film are not only too long but they also fail to draw the attention of the viewer. Sadly, in this long movie, there are just a few moments, which can truly be appreciated by those sitting in the film hall.
A lot of us, who have seen the Hindi cinema of the 1950s and 1960s feel that the directors of the modern day do not know the art of depicting true love through the medium of eyes and expressions. Punkaj does this perfectly through this film, taking you back to the beautiful era of Hindi cinema where eyes expressed love better than words. Even the dressing style of the characters of the film goes back in times and looks beautiful on screen. But Alas, all these efforts go wasted due to the poor scripting of the film. It is the result of poor scripting, which leaves a viewer confused when the scene suddenly changes from a village in Punjab to Scotland. The director needed to show this change gradually but fails to do so. The director also fails to explain that despite being in love, why does Aayat stay aloof from Harry when she finds him in Scotland. Why does she wait for Harry to locate her and leave a note for her and not express her love directly?
For a film to work with the audiences and do well at the box office, it must gradually become better and interesting with every passing reel. The case with Mausam is exactly the opposite. As the film moves on, it looses its grip. The war sequences and the climax are also just not impressive. Every time they cross each-other, the viewer keeps expecting that the two lead characters would meet but that fails to happen until the viewer is sick and bored by it all. Also, in an engaging film, the viewer should feel happy when the lead characters finally meet in the end. That feeling is not evoked in Mausam.
Punkaj Kapoor may have failed as a writer in scripting he film, but he has some abilities as a director. Anyway, Mausam is not the best film to judge Punkaj as a director. You will need to wait for his next film for this purpose. On the other hand, the music and the cinematography of the film are excellent.
Speaking of Punkaj again, despite the fate it suffers at the box office, Mausam does showcase his potential as a director because he has managed to get the best of both Shahid and Sonam. Both of them have worked hard and look great in the film. Apart from the actors, who form the lead pair, Supriya Pathak Aditi Sharma and Manoj Pahwa have also left a mark with their performances. But on the other hand Anupam Kher and Vaibhav Talwar could have done better in their roles in the film.
Well, it may be unfortunate but it is true that Mausam does not live up to the hype created around it.

Bodyguard and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan continue to do well at the box office.

With Mausan being delayed by a week and no big releases at the Box Office last week, the two big releases of the previous weeks, Bodyguard and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan gained immensely and continued their domination on the Box office.

The second week collections of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan have not been bad at all. The week saw almost Rs 18 crore being made by the film in the second week, taking the collections of this Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan starrer to Rs 56 Crore in two week and making the film a decent hit at the box office.

What is significant here is that may be for the first time, the Rs 18 crore made by Mere Brother Ki Dulhan this week will be more than the weekly collections of Bodyguard, which has gradually started to lose its grip at the box office.

But, with the opening reports of Mausam at the box office not being so good, Bodyguard and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan may continue to rule at the cash counter.

The overall collections of Bodyguard cross Rs. 100 crore.

Now, this is really huge. Beating all previous records at the box office and making 12 crores on an average per day, Salman Khan’s latest release Bodyguard, which hit theatres on the occasion of Eid this year, has managed to make Rs. 115 crore in 9 days.

Bodyguard was declared a hit on the opening day itself when it made over Rs. 20 Crore at the box office on the day of being released. Though as expected, the collections of the film have gone down steadily with each passing day, but Bodyguard has still managed to beat all records in Hindi film world.

The film is not only doing well in various parts of the country, including the South, but it has also proved to be a tremendous success overseas. The film has managed to collect 1 lac 94 thousand pounds in United Kingdom, breaking the record of highest collections by a Bollywood film on the opening day in that country, which earlier belonged to Shahrukh’s Khan’s My Name Is Khan.

The success of Bodyguard has ensured three hit films in a row for Salman after Dabangg and Ready, making him the new king of Bollywood.
