Since Main Aur Mrs. Khanna is the first release of Salman Khan after the grand success of Wanted, everyone is eager to see what he has to offer in this film.
This is the story of Samir Khanna (Salman Khan), who meets Raina (Kareena Kapoor) at an orphanage in Dalhousie and falls in love instantly. Both get married and are happy together in Melbourne until one day Samir finds himself in financial crises. Since Samir also has a male ego and finds it hard to digest the fact that his wife has become the bread earner of the family, he decides to migrate to Singapore and asks his wife to go back to India. But instead of returning back to India, Raina finds a job at the Melbourne airport.
But soon Raina faces problems regarding work permit in Melbourne. Its then that her colleague Akash (Sohail Khan) comes to her rescue and poses to be her husband.
Slowly, Akash falls in love with Raina and decides to propose to her. But before he can do that Samir comes back.
Its now that the confusion in the minds of both Samir and Raina arises. Whereas, Samir is confused to see the false marriage certificate, which says that Akash and Raina are a couple, Raina is confused and can’t decide who is a better partner for her? A husband who left her or a colleague, who helped her.
But there is one difference between Main Aur Mrs Khanna and a usual Bollywood movie. Whereas, in a Bollywood movie you are curious to know who will eventually get the girl, even this curiosity does not exist in this film as you can almost predict, who will eventually get her.
If a slow, boring and an unrealistic story wasn’t enough, an uninspiring performance by both Kareena and Sohail add to the misery of the film. Salman on the other hand has a too small a role to leave any impact.
But the worst part of it all is the director Prem Soni, who has failed to give us a good film despite having such a good star cast.
The biggest problem with directors like Soni is that their films fail to differentiate between a movie and a Television serial. The story of Main Aur Mrs Khanna is more like 3 hour Television serial. If such films are made, they are bound to do badly at the Box office.
The support team of Rajpal Yadav, Bappi Lahiri, Dino Morea, Nauheed Cyrusi and Mahek Chahel also fails to leave any impact.
