3 Idiots is one of the most important films to be released this year. Given that it is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, who made film like Munnabhi MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai and is the next release of Aamir Khan after the super hit Ghajini, the expectations from 3 Idiots were huge. Moreover, people also wanted to see if this film, which brought together the team of Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi does at the Box Office after Rang De Basanti, does that well or not.

3 Idiots is about three men, who follow their heart and do things the way they want to. The film talks about three men, who want to do what they want and achieve their goals in life in their own way.

The story starts with two close friends (Madhavan and Sharman Joshi), who are looking for a third friend of theirs who studied with them in their engineering college. As they pass through the beautiful scenery of Shimla, Manali and Ladakh, they recall their hostel days in their engineering college where they spent time with their free-thinking friend Rancho (Aamir Khan).

The three friends, who come close despite the pressure of studies and their strict principle Viru Sahastrabudhhe [Boman Irani], until one day Rancho disappears. And, when they ultimately find him, they realize that Rancho is not the same person, they were actually looking for. And the two confused friends go looking for the man, who was their classmate in the engineering college.

3 Idiots, like other films of Rajkumar Hirani gives a strong message. It says that education and knowledge are two entirely different things and knowledge is much more and much beyond all those degrees that the youth of today is running after.

Though it is being seen and promoted as an Aamir Khan film, the fact remains that this is not the case. This is solely and purely a Rajkumar Hirani film. 3 Idiots could easily be another Munnabhai MBBS, but it is the sheer excellence of Rajkumar Hirani that despite being similar to that film, 3 Idiots holds its individuality and at no point do you feel that you are watching Munnabhai MBBS all over again. Secondly, Hirani had made sure that despite being the lead actor of the film, Aamir Khan’s personality as a star does not overshadow the film and Madhavan and Sharman Joshi play an equally important part in taking the story forward.

The story by Vidhu Vinod Chopra is straight from the heart and a well scripted screenplay by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi is equally strong and binds the audiences thorough out. This can be seen from the fact that unlike most other films which have a few sequences, which put you on the edge of your seat, whether it’s the comic sequence of speech, or the sequence of the delivery of the child, or the sequence of Aamir carrying Sharman’s father to a hospital on a bike, each one of these sequences are equally entertaining.

The music of Shantanu is soothing and goes well with the story.

Needless to say, true to his nick-name, Aamir’s performance is nothing less than perfect. But as mentioned above, the film does not belong only to him as Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani have all not only supported him but matched Aamir in their respective performance. Kareena Kapoor has done justice to her small role. The supporting star-cast of Mona Singh, Jaaved Jaffery and Pareekshit Sahani have all played their parts well.

So, its three in a row for Raj Kumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who have given another entertainer with a message after Munnbabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai. Go and watch it.’
