Raajneeti Gets Good Opening

by admin on June 16, 2010

Raajneeti has got good collection in the first weekend.

Whether you call it the effect of good reviews or a good overall film, Raajneeti has opened to good collections at the box office. Raajneeti, which is loosely based on the Hindu mythological epic Mahabharata, has managed to break common perception in Bollywood that political drama cannot draw audiences to theatres. It has given a pleasant surprise to everyone by earning around Rs. 62 crore in first three days of its release.

Analysts say that the opening Raajneeti has got goes to prove that any subject, including a subject like politics, which is not usually known to draw the youth to cinema halls, if presented in an interesting manner is bound to get good response. Analysts add, "The film has a powerful and engrossing script. The story and characters of Raajneeti are engaging a lot of people. It goes a long way to show that films don’t have to be funny and entertaining in the basic sense of the word. These days, if a film is engaging and entertaining, people will grab it.”

What is even more surprising about Raajneeti’s success is that since the script of the movie demanded so, the film has been shot at simple locations and not at glamorous foreign locations, which are considered so necessary to attract viewers.

Needless to say director of the film, Prakash Jha is very happy with the response the film has got at the box office. He said that by making a film like Raajneeti, he had taken a big risk and he is glad that the risk has paid-off.

Raajneeti getting good opening collections in its first weekend is a good news not only for director Prakash Jha and others associated with the film but also for other makers in Bollywood, who are trying to make a political drama.
