raajneeti referred to revising committee

by admin on May 28, 2010

Raajneeti was referred to a revising Committee by Censor Board.

The Censor Board has refused to clear the upcoming film of Prakash Jha, Raajneeti saying that certain portion of the film are too real and hard hitting for Indian audience to digest.  The board had referred the film to a revising Committee, which surprisingly was suppose to look into a secret widely known to the world, that is, the film resembles people and situation in the real political world.

Reports suggest that the members of the review committee have watched the film and feel that the film deals with certain sensitive issues and if it is allowed to release in the form it has been presented to the revising Committee, it could lead to a lot of problems.

In fact, the problems for Raajneeti became even more serious when the revising Committee refused to give its opinion on the issue saying that they could not come to any conclusion and would like the entire censor board to sit and discuss the issue.

Though when asked initially, director of Raajneeti, Prakash Jha maintained that the film does not have much problem with the board and will be cleared within a couple of days, after much persuasion he admitted that the censor board does have some problems with certain characters of the film, which seem to be inspired by real life politicians and political situations.

Meanwhile, failing to come to any conclusion after much deliberation in this regard, the censor board has now decided to involve more officials and take a wider opinion on this issue.

Whether it is referred to a revising Committee or a divided censor board takes a collective decision on this issue, it has make its final decision very carefully in this case because some Congress workers are already upset with the reports that Katrina’s character Raajneeti, which is shown in negative shades, resembles Sonia Gandhi. If such reports are proved true after the release of the film, there can be widespread protests against Raajneeti.
