Amitabh Bachchan pays farmers’ debt.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan came to the rescue of around 114 farmers in Maharashtra’s Wardha district, when he repaid their debt of about Rs 30 Lacs in total.

The farmers belonging to at least 20 villages, who got the help from Mr Amitabh Bachchan were selected by members of the Rotary Club of Gandhi City Wardha and Rotary Club of Mumbai.

Reports suggest that when Mr Amitabh Bachchan expressed his wish to help these farmers, the members of the Rotary Club of Gandhi City Wardha and Rotary Club of Mumbai after scrutinizing a list of farmers, made a list of around 300 farmers, who could need Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s help to pay their debt.

But to be on the safe side, rather than totally depending on the list sent to him, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan decided to get the list verified by his own representatives and shortlisted around 114 farmers, whom he felt really needed help. Whereas cheques to 90 of those 114 farmers were delivered this week, the remaining 24 farmers will be helped shortly.

Former President of Rotary Club of Gandhi City Wardha, Mahesh Makolkar, who also helped in shortlisting the farmers said, “Around 90 farmers were handed over the cheques at a ceremony. We have made arrangements to deliver the cheques of those farmers who were unable to attend the ceremony,”

Apart from the help they got, the farmers of these 22 villages will now also be talking about who gave them this help.

In our country thousands of farmers commit suicide every year and till now our government is unable to stop farmer’s suicide. At such time Amitabh Bachchan’s help to bail out farmers from debt is laudable.

Now the farmers of Wardha want to meet his benefactor Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan has done it earlier too for the farmers of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Though Amitabh Bachchan himself was not present during the cheque distribution, but he told Nagpur Times, “I’m moved by the plight of farmers across India. What is disturbing is news that farmers in many parts of our country are committing suicide because they are unable to pay back paltry loans of 10,000. When a farmer ends his life, he also orphans his entire family.”

Hope more superstars can follow Amiabh Bachchan’s philanthropic nature apart from his acting skills.

A Television show, “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon” depicting Madhubala and Dilip Kumar’s affair has upset Madhubala’s younger sister.

An upcoming Television show, “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon”, on the life of Madhubala has upset her sister as she feels that the show highlights the incidents of the life of the late Bollywood actress in a wrong light.

If the sister of the late actress is to be believed, the show talks of the relation between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. The show, “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon”, whose promos have just gone air, allegedly highlights the fact that Madhubala was very close to Dilip Kumar and her father did not approve of this relation. This led to constant fights between Madhubala and her father. Eventually, due to pressure from her father, Madhubala had to end her relation with Dilip Kumar.

Madhubala’s sister Madhur Brij Bhushan has objected to the telecast of the show saying that these facts are not true.

The sister of the late actress said that she had sought time from the bosses of the channel mentioning her reservations on the show. But Madhur Brij Bhushan alleges that despite repeated requests, the bosses of the channel did not give her time to meet them and clarify the matter.

Madhur Brij Bhushan said, “I don’t want to pick up a fight but at least they should be kind to the departed soul. The makers are refusing to discuss things on a pleasant note. They can at least listen to what I have to say.”

Madhur Brij Bhushan needs to understand a few things here. The alleged closeness between Madhubala and Dilip Kumar is no secret. Her seeking clarification from the channel will only give publicity to the issue. Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu is aware of the TV serial depecting the romance between her husband and Madhubala. But Saira Banu has refused to comment on this issue.

It would have been nice, if TV channel have sought permission for “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon” from Madhubala’s family before airing the show about her private life.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister too was very much impressed by Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate that he invited Aamir Khan to his state. Health Department of Maadhya Pradesh has taken stringent action against 65 pregnancy termination centers by suspending their licenses.

Maharashtra Government is all praise for Aamir Khan for highlighting social issues. So Bollywood thespian Dilip Kumar too is not unaffected by Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate.

Sachin Tendulkar is going to make a debut in Hindi movie, Ferrari Ki Sawari.

If reports are to be believed, the legend of Indian cricket Sachin Tendulkar after breaking all records in the field of the game is now going to try and break some records in a totally new field. After entering politics just a couple of weeks back, Sachin is now trying his hand in Bollywood by appearing in a cameo in the upcoming film Ferrari Ki Sawari. Sachin has just been nominated to the Rajya Sabha along with film actress Rekha.

Sources say, “Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is making this film was very keen to use the name of Sachin in it and had approached the cricketer in this regard. But after the positive response from Sachin, the film maker also persuaded him to do a cameo in Ferrari Ki Sawari.”

But what is interesting here is that leave alone details about his role, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not even ready to commit whether the cricket legend is a part of this project or not. When asked, the producer remained tight-lipped on the issue and all he said was, “There is a mention of him in the film. We are happy that we got to use his name in Ferrari Ki Sawari. But to find out whether Sachin Tendulkar is in it or not, you will have to see the film. I would love everyone to watch the film.”

Before this, there were rumors that Sachin Tendulkar had also featured in a scene in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, but that was denied by both the cricketer and the director of the film Karan Johar.

We will have wait till the film to releases to find out whether Sachin Tendulkar is in the film or not but his name will surely appear in the first promo of Ferrari Ki Sawari.

Sonakshi Sinha is not exposing in Rowdy Rathore, says choreographerturned-director Prabhu Deva.

Sonakshi Sinha was seen wrapped in a Sari throughout her debut film Dabangg and if reports coming straight from Prabhu Deva the director of her next film Rowdy Rathore, are to be believed, Sonakshi will also not expose in Rowdy Rathore either.

This clarification came from the director after reports that Prabhu Deva had allegedly asked the lead lady of his film to expose in some scenes of his film. Prabhu Deva said, “Not at all. When you see the film, you will realise that this is not true. In fact, we too were very happy when she decided not to expose because even we didn’t want to expose. Both she and Akshay Kumar were tailor-made for the role.”

Before this film, Prabhu Deva gave the industry a film like Wanted, which despite having no exposure was a great success at the box office. Just as it was the case with Wanted, it seems the director has relied more on action for the success of this film as well. He must be hoping that Rowdy Rathore goes the Wanted way.

Prabhu Deva is famous dancer and choreographer from South but he has started producing Hindi movies too. He produced Wanted in 2009 with Salman Khan in lead. Wanted was an out an out action film and a huge hit.

Will Prabhu Deva shift to Mumbai after getting more and more success in Bollywood? Prabhu Deva has said to a leading English daily, “I am happy I have received a very good response. Earlier, people would view me only as a choreographer. They now look up to me as director. There is a marked difference. Earlier, I would come down for just four or five days. I am now having longer meetings and with many more people.”

Prabhu Deva added further, “I will be available here but there are no plans for shifting as of now. I am going to do a film for Eros and one for Tips.”

aran Johar joins hands with Rohit Shetty.

Karan Johar seems to be going places. After reports that he is going launch a movie, which he will co-produce with his good friend Ekta Kapoor, Karan is now going work with director Rohit Shetty.

Speaking about Rohit working under his banner, Karan said, “Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty will come together for a film. Apart from the fact that we are both passionate about cinema, I greatly admire him as a filmmaker and a person. He is an extremely talented mainstream filmmaker and I am sure, together we will make a very special film. Whereas as till now Dharma Productions has produced many films with first-time directors, this is the first time we’ve got an established director to work for us.”

Rohit also while expressing his happiness over the idea of working with Karan, said, “Karan is an excellent director himself and a director’s producer. We have met and agreed on the idea that we would be doing a film soon. We will decide the set-up and other details very shortly. I am sure it will be a great experience.”

Karan went on to add, “Rohit has other commitments to finish at present. We will only start our film after that.”

This is a total reversal of strategy for Karan. Till now, apart from his friendship with Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, the producer has promoted new talent under his banner. But now he is working with establish film makers. It would be interesting to see how this experience works for him.
