Bollywood too is Affected by Terror Attack

Nov 27, 2008 No Comments »

Even as Mumbai comes to terms with the terrorists attacks, the Mumbai film industry is not isolated from its effect and along with the rest of the city, it also has to bear the burns of this horrifying incident.

Acting upon the orders issued by the Maharashtra state government, all singled screened and multiplexes stopped screening of films for a day in Mumbai on Thursday. The state government had advised all cinema owners to stop screening the films unless and until it takes proper security measures for the security of cinema goers. With the attack on seven-star hotels, the government may have felt that even cinema halls may not be a good place to visit in the city for the time being.

Keeping in mind the kind of stress and chaos the city and its residence went through, it seems all shooting and dubbing schedules for the day were also cancelled.

Bollywood War!

Nov 27, 2008 1 Comment »

Though you may be a king, the biggest people may be behind you but something may still make you feel ‘Yeh Dil Maange More.’ That seems be the case with the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan these days.

Despite the fact that he has big banners like Karan Johar’s Dharma Production and Yash Chopra’s Yash Raj films in his kitty, there is a lot that SRK needs to think about. For, if his cold war with the Bachchan’s that became a bigger news in India than the cold was between U S A and U. S. S. R was not enough, he has now had a new enemy in form of Salman Khan.

But, among these rifts, one person who has gained the maximum is another Khan. Yes, you guessed it right, its Aamir Khan. Just as was the case with Shah Rukh, Aamir story also starts with the Bachchans. There was only one difference though. At a time when the distance between the Badshah and Shehanshah was increasing, Aamir along with his wife Kiran paid a courtesy visit to the Bachchans to congratulate them for their splendid performances in SARKAR RAJ. The Bachchans did not let this opportunity go by without retuning the favor by also praising Aamir for the wonderful work in his directorial debut ‘TAARE ZAMEEN PAR’. Aamir further scored a point by being a guest on Salman’s Television show Dus Ka Dum, while Shah Rukh refused to oblige Salman in this regard. And with the otherwise private and aloof Aamir attending a rare party at Salman’s house, the news spread that both Aamir and Salman have not only rediscovered their long lost friendship but were also planning a sequel of their 1994 hilarious comedy hit “Andaz Apna Apna”.

Well, coming back to Shah Rukh, worst didn’t end there only. While his problems with Bachchans and Salman have been talk of the town of late, his relations with Aamir haven’t been on the right track either. This considering the fact that Aamir wasn’t very amused about the remarks Shah Rukh made regarding his choice to attend only a few particular award functions. If one might say so, with the kind of remarks he has passed against Aamir and Amar Singh, rather than Aamir, its Shah Rukh who needs to avoid the award functions right now.

But, all said and done, Shah Rukh Khan is Shah Rukh Khan after all. He has eventually found a way out of it all. Shah Rukh has now expressed his desire to do a film with Aamir. He probably knows that the issue between him and Aamir was the least controversial and may be resolved most easily. And making that as a starting point, with the help of Aamir, he may also be able to resolve his differences with others also. Now, that’s a smart move Shah Rukh.

Bollywood and Terror Attack in Mumbai!

Nov 27, 2008 No Comments »

It seems that terrorist groups, irrespective of which community and religion they may belong to, have a new way of hitting the headlines of newspapers, television channels and other media like the internet- by strike busy and densely populated areas of big cities of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Lakhnow, Ahmedabad and Bangaluru.

Where as when it comes to a city like Delhi, where people are said to be selfish and self-centered in their attitude, such attacks don’t seem to affect many. Fortunately or unfortunately, on the particular day when the last three major incidents took place in the national capital, this reporter has been on road and has witnessed, irrespective of what was going on, people moved on with their daily lives without caring much.

But, its always good to see that when it comes to critical situations like this, Mumbaikars always come out to help each other in the hour of need. This is especially true with regard to the Bolywood film industry, which is based in that city only. Although, it is a well-established fact that going by their reputation as crowd pullers and celebrities whom ordinary men like you and me listen to, Bollywood stars have always lent a helping hand as and when needed, but whenever it comes to Mumbai, the home of Bollywood, the stars always put in that extra bit of effort. The situation will be no different this time around.

Despite the fact that one of the main links between Bollywood and government (Political Circles), Mr. Sunil Dutt, who also took keen interest in social causes, is no more with us today, surely the present situation is going to bring many other Bollywood stars in forefront to lend a helping hand to bring their city back on its feet.

Aamir and Asin in Ghajini

Aamir and Asin in Ghajini

Though it is unintentional on his part, Amir Khan’s Ghajni look of late has got a few people into serious trouble.

The latest causality in this regard has been a lady who has had to suffer because she has been receiving endless unwanted phone calls because Amir’s outlook in Ghajini. This despite the fact the fact she has nothing to do either with Aamir or this film, which is scheduled to release in December end.

As per the story line of the film, the character played by Amir suffers frequent memory loss in the movie and therefore notes down all his important information, including important phone numbers on his body. Though the Ghajini team also apprehended before hand only that a real number may harm someone and therefore tried to make sure that the number written on Aamir’s body is a random number. But, it so happen that one of the number devised by an assistant director of the film which has been used as tattoo on Amir’s body, co-incidentally happened to be a working phone number of some Dr. Surekha Verma.

Earlier also, there have been a few incidents where Aamir’s Ghajini look led to a few serious problems. In one such case in Bangalore, some college professors refused to teach a bunch of boys, who shaved their head similar to Aamir famous hair-cut in Ghajini alleging that it distracted their concentration. As a result, not only the Ghajini hair-cut got banned in the concerned college campus but Aamir had to answer quite a few questions to make his side clear.

Well, coming back to the telephone number issue, the producer of Ghajini has now not only apologized to Dr. Surekha Verma for the inconvenience caused to her but has also offered her to get a new connection with a new number if the lady so desires.

Rahul Mahajan’s Charity!

Nov 22, 2008 No Comments »

Rahul Mahajan, who was evicted from the Big Boss house for not apologizing for the attempt he made to flee away from the house, has said that he had done a big charity by withdrawing from the show. He was happy that his eviction would give a better chance to the remaining participants to win the title. Rahul who probably entered the big boss fray more to change his image than for monetary gains, said that he felt he has achieved his goal and therefore would rather want to leave the house now.

But has Rahul really done any charity by leaving the house? According to reports though his eviction may not mean much to Rahul, it may have large scale implications on many others who are directly or indirectly associated with the show. First, as his chances of winning were very high, the bookies had invested a sum of Rs.80 Carores on Rahul. All of whom would now be banging their head against the wall cursing Rahual for what he has done since the biggest ‘Dilwala’ of the house has had to leave the show without winning it either for himself or for them.

Even the producers of the program and the channel where it is being aired wouldn’t be far from happy with Rahul for all that he has done since the falling TRP of the show just a few days before it actually came to a close is a cause of concern for them also. They must have realized it by now that with his eviction the show probably means nothing given that Rahul had become the ‘Real Crowd Puller’ for the program.

Well, taking all in account, rumors are already doing rounds in the gossip circles that Rahul may be given a chance to return to the show through a wild card entry. Lets see.

Rahul Mahajan is Evicted from Big Boss!

Rahul Mahajan

Rahul Mahajan, a housemate in Big Boss

Reports that Rahul Mahajan was evicted from Big Boss house has come as a shock for all the regular followers of the program. But what one wonders is that is this another attempt on the part of the producers to increase the viewership of the show in the last week of the program just before it ends?

In fact, this episode of Big Boss raises many questions. One wonders that after spending so much time in the Big Boss house, why did the four men decide to escape from the house? Despite the problem that these four men were facing, they very well knew that this was the last week of the show, Big Boss. Moreover, the news of Rahul Mahajan’s eviction is even more confusing since his chances of winning the Big Boss was even more since he wasn’t even nominated for eviction this week. In this way, Rahul with Ashutosh had better chance of winning the show than Raja and Zulfi. Those who have watched the show regularly would realize that with the kind of answers that Rahul Mahajan has to give to other contestants like Payal and Monica and to the public as a whole, it is actually Rahul who would have loved to stay in the house a little longer. Then, why didn’t Rahul Mahajan say sorry and left the Big Boss show just can’t be understood. Is it that with no female left is the Big Bosshouse to flirt with, Rahul Mahajan did not find any solid reason to remain there!!

So, is the Big Boss show fixed? Despite all attempts by the producers of the Big Boss program to convince the viewers that there are no truth in this, there have been allegations by both the occupants of the house in session one and session two that the whole program is fixed and it was actually decided before the start of the program that who will win it. The actual fact will only be known once the show end. For now keep enjoying the biggest controversy in the otherwise controversy-less show Big Boss.

Rani Making Ash Insecure?

Nov 18, 2008 1 Comment »

Rani and Ash

Rani and Ash

Intellectuals say life takes a full circle and history repeats itself. The saying seems to be coming true for the Bachchans.

There was a time when Jaya Bachchan had sleepless nights due to the rumors of relation between Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. Now, it seems the same insecurity that had engulfed Jaya Bachchan has now caught up with Aishwarya, the Bahu of Bachchan family, who has taken a promise from her hubby that he will not accept films with Rani Mukherjee.

Well, if Aishwarya is worried with regard to Abhishek-Rani relationship, its not purely out of insecurity. Irrespective of how much Abhishek loves Aishwarya, when it comes to profession, surely Rani holds a very significant place in Abhishek’s life. After all, Rani Mukherjee is the lucky mascot of Abhishek as both his films that have had the most successful run at the box office, Yuva and Bunty Aur Babli feature Rani Mukherjee in the lead role. In fact, movie lovers were so fascinated by their online chemistry that many felt they would also make a perfect real life couple as well.

That’s what seems to have scared Aish. But it seems that along with beauty, God has also blessed Aishwarya with some brain also. Scared with the reports about the closeness with Rani that made headlines before Abhiskek proposed to Aishwarya, the Bachchan Bahu has now ask her husband not to work with Rani. Insiders point out that the real story behind the recent refusal by Abhiskek to not do a cameo in a Yash Raj film is that his wife doesn’t want him to be a part of any project which concerns Rani Mukherjee also.

Hey Aish, what’s wrong with you? If Rani’s support is able to help your husband’s sinking acting career, you should rather encourage it and not discourage it in any way.

And the Winner is Amir Khan!

Amir Khan in Ghajni

Amir Khan and Asin in Ghajni

The verdict is out. Though the final outcome will only be known by the end of December when all the three movies have hit the theaters, Aamir Khan seems to have won the initial round of the undeclared war that is going on between the three Super Khans.

A television channel recently conducted a survey where they asked movie goers that with Yuvraaj, Rab Ne Banna Di Jodi and Ghajni scheduled to release in next few days, which of the three would they want to go and watch. Yes, you have guessed it right. It was Amir Khan’s Ghajni that won hands down.

Well, apart from the usual responses, there was one Amir supporter who gave a very interesting response. When asked she replied that she awaits Ghajni since Amir Khan movies are few and rare. Where as Shah Rukh and Salman has had four releases each this year, Ghajani is going to be first release of Aamir in 2008. What it shows is that Aamir has a very loyal fan following who always await his films eagerly.

But beware Aamir Rab Ne Banna Di Jodi, which was the second preferred film in the survey may give you a very tough fight as practically speaking even Shah Rukh fans haven’t had enough of him this year.

Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra, Trouble in Paradise?

Nov 18, 2008 No Comments »

Rani Mukharjee

Rani Mukharjee, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic

Whatever may be the relationship between Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra, the news is that its not in a very good shape right now. It seems that the Chopra’s to a certain extent are holding Rani responsible for the poor showing of their recent films at the box office.
Hey, the Chopras what’s wrong. It may be true that a few of your films like Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag featuring Rani in the lead may have had a miserable rum but what about the remaining films like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Aaja Nach Le? These films which boomed at the box office did not have Rani.

But, if the rift between the Chopra’s and Rani is true then that speaks a volume about the Yash Raj films. According to a news that went around in Bollywood circles, upset with the closeness that Aditya developed with Rani, Yash Chopra threw his son out of the Yash Raj Productions. But, as the films produced by the banner started failing at the box office, Yash Chopra was left with no choice but to again give the helms of Yash Raj productions back in the hands of Aditya Chopra.

Well, the trick seems to have worked in favor of Yash Raj with Bachna Ae Haseeno doing decent business at Box office. But, as the father son duo patches up, its Rani who has to face the music.

King Singh and Big Boss!

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, Singh is King

When time is right and your stars favor you, every move you make seems to give you the best results possible. Who would agree to this more than Akshay Kumar? With his films like “Welcome” and “Singh is King” doing so well, it is Akshay who has who has replaced all Khans as the king of Bollywood.

Akshay’s new dominance in the industry is being felt by all, more so by the Khan’s who are feeling the heat of Akki’s success and are therefore trying extra hard to promote their new films. In Bollywood, which is a medium of exposure and publicity, you don’t even want to miss a single chance of showing your face in public and being noticed in public, specially when your new movie is about to hit the screen. So, even if the Stars get the smallest chance to show their face in public and use that opportunity to campaign for their new film, they want to grab it with both hands. This is even more true at this point of time when the three big Khan’s Shah Rukh, Salman and Amir, face the toughest competition not only with others but among each other as well.

So, when both Shah Rukh and Salman were offered to be the celebrity guest at the grand finale of the TV show Big Boss, they both couldn’t decline it.

But, guess who walked away with the honors? Its none other than Akshay Kumar. Though the producers of the Celebrity show Big Boss are keeping it as a close secret, the buzz word in the industry is that Akshay kumar has signed a deal with them. He will feature in the grand finale of the Big Boss show to be aired on November 22.

Well done Akshay. You truly are the undisputed king of the Bollywood right now
