Cast: Irrfan Khan, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan, Konkona Sensharma
Director: Anil Senior
The problem with our Blooywood movie directors is they get inspired by Hollywood movies but they don’t know how to mould it according to Indian viewers taste. So what comes out is a Khichadi of sorts. As usual this movie is ‘inspired’ by Woody Allen’s classic, Husbands and Wives. We know the original impressed millions with its humorous theme.
But as far as Dil Kabaddi is concerned, the director Anil Senior has made an honest effort to mold it according to Indian audiences but missed out on many counts.
The story of Dil Kabaddi deals with married couples facing boredom in their lives and looking for outside fun to spice up their lives. Samit (Irrfan Khan) is troubled by his wife Mita’s (Soha Ali Khan) aloofness in physical aspects and argumentative behavior. He found solace in the arms of a sexually adventurous aerobics instructor, Kaya (Payal Rohatgi).
Another couple in the movie Dil Kabaddi are Rishi (Rahul Bose) and his wife Simi (Konkona Sensharma). They too are outgrowing each other. Rishi found Simi too overbearing and at a loss to deal with her. He was falling for his student Saba Azad. Simi too find a shoulder to cry on, her editor, Veer (Rahul Khanna). Though she was supposed to be acting as matchmaker for him. So all the hell break loose when partners came to realize what their spouses are upto.
The background music of Dil Kabaddi fails to touch the soul or impress. The movies biggest drawback is lack of a strong storyline. What impresses is actors’ performances. It can be termed as dream cast. All the actors held their own and delivers what is expected of them. Rahul Khanna was able to make a mark among these heavyweight actors. In the end one can conclude that the director of Dil Kabaddi could have delivered a much better package with such an universal and interesting subject.

Bollywood Stars and Mumbai Terror!
Dec 04, 2008 No Comments »
Though, the widespread loss of life, devastation and destruction that it has led to is a matter of great concern, the positive aspect of the recent terror attacks has been that it has united the country with all Indians irrespective of their caste, creed, color and religion, condemning these attacks in one voice.
Bollywood has been no different since people associated with the film industry, have left behind their narrow and selfish ideology and come forward to condemn the attack on Mumbai in one voice.
Condemning the attack, then famous actor, social activist and Member of Parliament Shabana Azmi condoled the death of the police officers who lost their life in the combat operation and hoped that stern action would be taken to ensure that such incident are not repeated again.
Another member of Parliament Hema Malini said that it is horrifying to think that the city has become so unsafe for common men. She expressed hope that Mumbai will be a better place to live in during the times to come.
Aamir Khan while writing a post on his blog to express his views about the incident wrote that terrorists are sick people who actually have no religion. Giving his condolence to the families of soldiers who had died in this operation, Aamir praised them for lying their life to save Mumbai. Aamir also hoped that no one uses the present situation for their selfish political gains.
Shilpa Shetty said that though she had slept early on that particular night, she got the scare of her life when her friends called her up and inquired about her safety. Shilpa said on hearing the news, even she couldn’t think of anything else but call all her friends to know about their safety.
Raveena Tandon also said that she was sitting in a restaurant when she got a call from a friend to inquire about her safety. Its then that she got the news of a terrorist attack on Mumbai. Raveena too said that she could only think about calling her friends to inquire about their safety at that point of time.
Other film stars too expressed their concern over the terrorist attack. Whereas some stars like Rahul Bose expressed deep shock and anguished over what has happened, others like Ashard Warasi said that they were confident and hopeful that the security forces will do the needful to get the city back to normal.

Hollywood turning to Bollywood, and earning profits
May 29, 2008 No Comments »
This is a nice post on how a Hollywood movie featuring an American Indian (Kal Penn) and American Korean is doing quite well at the box office in terms of making dollars. The author aptly says:
HOLLYWOOD TRENDS ARE BECOMING ….NEED I SAY….SLIGHTLY SOUTH ASIAN!!!
And honestly I don’t give a rat’s behind what the critics, etc, feel of the film, I don’t care, cause they don’t count. Business counts, ROI counts, and like it or not, success counts and Harold and Kumar are giving a very $$$ oriented statement, as opposed to an IT IS DIFFERENT statement, and the former statements are always heard loud and clear.
The author also throws insightful light on the changing Bollywood stereotypes:
Non Typical Bollywood films are now becoming very typical. Although the film was bad, the fact remains, that person who is setting up the Television department of SRK’s Red Chillies, is making films with Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon and Javed Jaffrey. Rajat Kapoor is coming as a leading guy (none of the side hero please , given that in most cases he anyway overpowers the hero) with Neha Dhupia. Big, bad and commercial Sanjay Gupta is planning to make Chitra Devakurni’s novels into films. AB is coming in movies directed by Leena Yadav (as opposed to the regular folks he works with). Allegedly folks such as Rajpal Yadav, Vinay, Ranvir are asking for and getting a crore….and more power to them for that…while I can’t pay them that…it feels good that they are getting their market dues and that due is not linked to you being a star bachcha or relative. The “old” school of RGV is still star obsessed, but there is a whole world of “old RGV sensibilities” that has sprung up and is boldly going where others feared. Add to this the alternative, but still commercially lucrative world of films that Rajat/Naseer/KayKay/Madhur/Bhavna, etc make……DRASTIC CHANGES ARE HAPPENING THERE TOO.

100 guards to protect Mallika Sherawat
May 25, 2008 No Comments »
During the shooting of Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam in Pondicherry Mallika Sherawat was almost mobbed by her crazy fans, and in fact the situation became so grave that the producer Ratan Jain hired 100 guards to keep the marauding fans away from her.
Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam is the second film Mallika Sherawat is doing with Rahul Bose. Their first film together was Pyar Ke Side Effects.
Ratan Jain told the reporters that despite constant pleadings from the crew the maniacal fans wouldn’t let her alone and even tried to surround her and touch her. This is pretty scary.
