Sanjay Dutt feels that Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepth was way ahead of its time.

Around 22 years after its release, Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepath, which despite being critically acclaimed did not get much success at the box office, has found a new fan. Sanjay Dutt, who plays the baddie in the remake of Agneepath, has praised the film saying that the original film released in 1990 was way ahead of its time.

When asked about the original film in an interview, Sanjay Dutt said, “I loved the original film and if I was the whole of audience, I would have made it a big hit. I think may be the film was too ahead of times. Mukul is a brilliant director and his vision was so much ahead of his time.”

Sanjay Dutt said that everyone including Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa and Mithun Chakraborty had done a great job in the first film and it is very difficult to meet those standards for anyone.
Just like the lead actor of his film Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay also tried to downplay the comparison of their film with the original that was released in 1990.
Sanjay Dutt said, “Apart from the basic plot, there is no similarity between the two films. Ours is a new story and the two films cannot be compared in any way.”
By making the character of Vijay and Kancha simple, if the makers of this film feel that they can avoid the comparison between the two films, then they have gone miserably wrong. Hopefully the new Agneepath is good and live up to this comparison.

Priyanka Chopra rehearses at Shahrukh Khan’s office at 3 A M.

Rumour mills gained momentum and people went into speculative mode after Priyanka Chopra was seen at Shahrukh Khan’s office at 3 AM in the morning as everyone wondered what’s really going on between the two Bollywood stars at that particular hour. Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh Khan have already been linked up by rumor mills.

But before those, who like to think a little wild, put stress on their intellectual capacity and come up with a story that is not near to the truth at all, both Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra have clarified that they were actually working and rehearsing for hosting Zee Cine Awards to be held in Macau this weekend.

Both Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh Khan were to leave in the early hours of the morning to host the event in Macau and since they did not expect to get another chance to rehearse properly before the show, they used the time in the night in the best possible manner to rehearse, probably for the final time.

Both Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh Khan have clarified through their respective Twitter accounts that they were indeed at Shahrukh’s office at 3 AM but also did not leave any scope for anyone to speculate on the issue.

Priyanka Chopra wrote on her Twitter account, “Boarded! Phew made it by the skin of my teeth! But here goes. hosting for the first time. hope all the rehearsals with @iamsrk and team pay off,”

Shahrukh Khan wrote, “Off to Macau for zee awards. Been rehearsing with @priyankachopra, writers & dancers for hosting the show. Hope it all falls into place.”

Shahrukh Khan has been very kind to Priyanka Chopra off-late. He also promoted her film recently. And though Shahrukh Khan has been regular when it comes to hosting such shows, this is a relatively new job for Priyanka Chopra. The rehearsals at the night must have helped her.

Dhanush

& Mallika Sherawat are PETA’s hottest vegetarians.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) India has named the South India film star Dhanush, who has risen to fame not only in India but across the world with his famous song Kolaveri Di and Bollywood actress Malika Sherawat as the hottest vegetarians.

The two were voted as the hottest vegetarians through a vote, where people from across the country gave their opinion regarding, who is the most deserving to get this honour. Though the voters had an option to choose from a range of stars including Vivek Oberoi, Vidya Balan, Sonu Sood, Shahid Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Kareena Kapoor but it was Dhanush and Malika, who got the maximum votes.

Both Dhanush and Malika are extremely proud and happy about the fact that they are vegetarians and they did not hide this when they came to know that they have been voted in the polls conducted by PETA. Reacting to the news Malika said, “If I had to pick the very best thing about being vegan, it’s going to be my clear conscience.”

Dhanush said, “Being a vegetarian has always made me feel healthy and light. I’m proud to be a vegetarian because every time I sit down to eat I’m helping the environment.”

The spokesman for PETA said that even though Malika and Dhanush have been voted by people this year, so many celebrities voluntarily entering the race of being the hottest vegetarians goes to show that they actually believe in this concept.

Farhan Akhtar asks youth to vote.

Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar has urged the youth of Mumbai to come out and vote in the civic body elections to be held later this year in the city.

Asking the young voters to not only vote but choose the right people as their representatives, Farhan AKhtar said, “It is important to do some research about the candidate who you plan to vote for in the election. You should avoid voting for that particular party, whom your family or friends are following over the years, without seeking any information about their candidate.”

The Bollywood star Farhan AKhtar feels that before casting their vote, youth must seek greater information as to which of the person out of those contesting the elections, is in a position to serve them better. Farhan AKhtar added, “This democratic right determines how this country will be governed.”

Farhan AKhtar has been an influence on the youth and made them come to theatres to watch his films as both his previous releases in 2011, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in which he acted and Don 2, which he made as a director have done well at the box office. But at a time when people, especially the youth is disillusioned by the political class, it is very difficult to say whether they will listen to the request by Farhan AKhtar to vote.

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta and her husband the famous tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi became the proud parents of a baby girl on Friday. Mahesh Bhupati himself declared the good news on microblogging site twitter. He wrote, “It’s a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Lara Dutta, I Love u….,”

Lara Dutta was last seen in Parmeshwar Godrej’s party to welcome Oprah Winfrey. After coming from the party, Lara Dutta tweeted, “@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thankyou for making my day! Now can go into labour happily! .”

Lara Dutta was decorating her house for the new arrival. She wrote on twitter: “Its fun having my parents here and getting the house baby (sic) ready! Anticipation and excitement in the air! feels good to start 2012 like that.”

Lara Dutta also said that Mahesh Bhupati wanted a baby girl. So right now, Mahesh Bhupati must be feeling ecstatic as Lara Dutta has delivered a baby girl. Lara Dutta also said on twitter, “Mahesh is very excited and would like to have a daughter. However, as a mother, when you are going through the experience of carrying a baby for nine months, the first-and-foremost priority is to have a healthy baby”.

Lara must be keeping her fingers crossed so that the dream run she is having for past some time never comes to an end. 2011 was a fantastic year for the former beauty queen, who along with getting married also received the much-needed appreciation from both her fans and critics for her film Chalo Dilli and now she has become a mother.

Since Lara belongs to the Hindi Film industry and Mahesh is a well-known name in doubles in the field of Tennis, their friends both from Bollywood and the field of sports are sending messages to congratulate the parents of the new-born girl. Some of Lara’s close friends in the industry like Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia took the lead to congratulate her on becoming a mother.
Certainly, Lara and Mahesh must be very happy and must be hoping that the entry of new baby girl in their life brings them even better days in future.

Aishwarya Rai is enjoying motherhood to the hilt and is in no hurry to sign films. Gone were the days when married actresses were a big no no for filmmakers. Aishwarya Rai has redefined the role of actresses in the industry. After being married to Abhishek Bachchan, she was very much at the center of Bollywood and was in demand by commercial and art filmmakers.

Bollywood considers actresses in their late twenties as old. But Aishwarya Rai is never short of work even when she is in her mid and late thirties. A source says, “Filmmakers are still sending her their scripts knowing very well that Aishwarya’s too busy being a mum to read them at the moment. But they are still hoping that their scripts will be considered whenever the actor is ready to sign films and continue to drop by scripts at her Juhu residence.”
Now Aishwarya Rai has given birth to a baby girl and still she is being pursued by the producers to work in their movies. But Aishwarya Rai has gone into self imposed exile since her pregnancy. Aishwarya Rai is rarely seen at Bollywood functions and hardly steps out of her home except some can’t avoid family functions.
Aishwarya Rai has just made an exception for talk show queen Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey was in Mumbai recently and she visited Bachchan’s residence to meet Abhishek and Aishwarya’s daughetr. A source says, “Attending the recent bash hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej for Oprah Winfrey was a rare exception though. That’s because Oprah is a dear friend and she had personally invited her over to India when she was the guest on her show twice,” says a source. “So, Oprah kept her promise by dropping by the Bachchan residence on her visit here and Ash was more than happy to host her.”
Bollywood filmmakers are offering Aishwarya Rai roles with husband Abhishek Bachchn in a hope that Aishwarya will relent. But right now Aishwarya Rai wants to spend time with her newborn daughter and not taking up any offer of films. Another source says, “Aishwarya’s a completely hands-on-mum and is totally enjoying this phase of her life and doesn’t want to be distracted by work at all. Her return will depend on whenever she feels comfortable, but we don’t think anything immediately is on the cards yet.”

Its official now. After lots of mystery and drama, Pooja Bhatt has finalized porn star Sunny Leone as a lead actor for her film Jism 2. Earlier it was reported that Sunny Leone was reconsidering working in Jism 2 because she wanted to take care of her porn business in USA. But the buzz was, Sunny Leone was not happy with the money offered to her by the Bhatts.

When Pooja Bhatt had unveiled the first look of the Jism 2, she kept the mystery alive by not naming the Sunny Leone as female lead. She said, she is still considering the actress’s name for the film.

Jism 2 is written by Mahesh Bhatt and will be directed by his daughter Pooja Bhatt. Pooja Bhatt declares, “Every film, every song, every actor, every role has a destiny of its own. In Sunny I have found all those qualities that will make Jism 2 and especially the role she essays, not only breathe, but also surge with life! Some say she is perfect for Jism 2, others say Jism 2 is perfect for her…All I know is that she is my character… a dazzling beauty who is audacious, Intelligent, vulnerable, alive!”

Sunny Leone also confirms her working in Jism 2, “I have signed the contract for Jism 2. It will be my debut in this country as an actor and I am really excited. It’s an honour to be asked by Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt to be in this movie.”

Sunny Leone add further, “The point when I decided to sign this movie was actually after I heard the story. I think as an actor you should know what you getting into, you should know if nothing else, at least the basics of the story. And after I heard all the details and the story line is when I really agreed to the character they wanted me to play.” Jism 2 is scheduled to go on flooe soon and will be released in August, 2012.

Amitabh Bachchan to sing with Akon in a rock concert organized by Aadesh Srivastav.

Though Amitabh Bachchan has sung in many films and has also performed on stage, this time around he will go a step further and perform on the stage in an international rock concert and that too with the international singer Akon.

Bollywood composer Aadesh Shrivatasva is organizing a rock concert, which will be held both in Mumbai and the city of New York, where both Mr Bachchan and Akon will perform together.

Aadesh says, “I have been working on this concert very quietly but I am still to get Akon’s nod for it. But I am in the process of discussing the matter with the singer and will be leaving for USA very soon to finalize the details with Akon.”

Aadesh added, “We are organizing these concerts for the noble cause of global peace and both Mr. Bachchan and Akon are keen to make their contribution to it.”

Apart from the concerts, the music composer will also record an album named Anthem Of Peace, in which both Mr.Amitabh Bachchan and Akon are expected to perform.

While Aadesh is still in the process of finalizing the details with Akon, it seems at least Mr. Bachchan has agreed to be a part of this cause. In a Tweet on this matter, Mr Bachchan wrote, “Music for Peace . Working with Aadesh for this concert . Aadesh says that the message of peace to be given through this album will be far more effective in my voice.”

If Mr Bachchan and Akon work with Aadesh on this concert and Album, it will give a chance to the fans of Mr Bachchan to see him perform once again and will provide an opportunity to the international singer to get associated with Bollywood for the second time after Ra.One.

Shahrukh Khan promotes Priyanka Chopra’s film Teri Meri Kahaani in an event.

Priyanka Chopra has got a real helper for herself in the form of Shahrukh Khan as the Bollywood star helped her to do one of the toughest tasks, which an actor has to do, to promote her film. Shahrukh Khan while comparing at the event asked everyone present to go and watch Teri Meri Kahaani, the next film by Kunal Kohli, which features Priyanka and Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.

Shahrukh Khan asked everyone to go and see this film at a time when both Priyanka Chopra and the director of the film Kunal Kohli were present on the stage along with him.

Director Kunal Kohli is very thrilled with the help he got from the super star of Bollywood. He said, “It was really very sweet of Shahrukh Khan to do this. He was on stage co-hosting the show with Vidya Balan when I went up on stage to give Priyanka Chopra an award, and I said I hoped she’d get one next year for my film.”

When Shahrukh Khan asked Kunal Kohli that why is he trying to promote his film at any given opportunity, the director replied he has leant to do so from the Badshah of Bollywood only.

Shahrukh Khan was so impressed by the answer given by Kunal Kohli that he decided to himself chip-in the process of promoting the film and asked everyone present at the event to go and watch it.

Though Kunal Kohli is happy with Shahrukh Khan doing the needful to promote his film, let’s see if Shahrukh Khan’s fans listen to him and watch Teri Meri Kahaani.

Dhobi Ghaat fails to get a nomination at BAFTA.

The final nomination for BAFTAA awards are out and Aamir Khan’s film Dhobi Ghaat directed by his wife Kiran Rao has failed to make it to the final list of nominations at the awards in the Best Film Not in English Language category.

Though the film failed to impress audience back home in India, Aamir Khan feels that Dhobi Ghaat may not be a big success at the box office but it is a great peace of cinema and deserves an international award. Aamir Khan did taste some international success, when his film Lagaan made it to the Oscars and Rang De Basanti was in the final list of non-English films at BAFTA but the pair of Bollywood actor and his director wife have not had similar luck with Dhobi Ghaat.

Irrespective of what Aamir Khan feels, Dhobi Ghaat did not have it to make big at any level. Rather than hoping that this film makes it big at international level by getting an international award, he should try to make better movies like Lagaan and Rang De Basanti, which have it in them to get prestigious awards.

At an award function, Ranbir Kapoor was about to receive the best actor award for his movie Rockstar. Now Deepika and Ranbir are working together in Ayan Mukerjee’s film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

In Ranbir Kapoor’s birthday bash, Deepika Padukone was invited too. Keeping the past aside Deepika had attended Ranbir Kapoor birthday party. Ranbir Kapoor current girlfreind Nargis Fakhri was present too at the party.

Deepika Padukone was definitely called on the stage to attract audiences’ attention s she was the ex-flame of Ranbir Kapoor. Everyone present was shocked at Ranbir Kapoor’s gesture. Even Deepika Padukone was taken aback for a while. But she showed her good nature and laughed off the whole incident.

But a source says, “John did set up a meeting with his to be in-laws at a five-star restaurant where everything from marriage to their future was discussed. But he hasn’t got married. He wants to take time and focus on his films and feels that a wedding would only serve as a distraction.”

John Abraham dated Bipasha Basu for nine years. The couple broke off last year. The bone of contention between John Abraham and Bipasha Basu was said to be marriage. Bipasha Basu wanted to settle down while Johan Abraham was not ready to be tied down. Since their break off John and Bipasha has moved on.
