Abhishek Bachchan intends to stay away from the latest fads
Jun 05, 2008 No Comments »
Abhishek Bachchan has said that he plans to stay away from the latest fads such as six abs and blogging. Incidentally the greatest celebrity blogger in India is Abhishek’s dad, the Big B blogs at BigAdda. Recently he said in an interview:
I will not go for six-packs. I am not doing anything to get it. I am very happy with my one-pack and I would love to hold on to it. In fact, I would like every one to go back to one-pack.
Regarding creating a blog he commented:
I keep shooting outdoors and I don’t think I can update it regularly, so I don’t want to start it.
Good for him. At least there is someone content with the way he is. It’s very difficult to see such attitude in Bollywood where herd mentality rules the roost.

Hollywood turning to Bollywood, and earning profits
May 29, 2008 No Comments »
This is a nice post on how a Hollywood movie featuring an American Indian (Kal Penn) and American Korean is doing quite well at the box office in terms of making dollars. The author aptly says:
HOLLYWOOD TRENDS ARE BECOMING ….NEED I SAY….SLIGHTLY SOUTH ASIAN!!!
And honestly I don’t give a rat’s behind what the critics, etc, feel of the film, I don’t care, cause they don’t count. Business counts, ROI counts, and like it or not, success counts and Harold and Kumar are giving a very $$$ oriented statement, as opposed to an IT IS DIFFERENT statement, and the former statements are always heard loud and clear.
The author also throws insightful light on the changing Bollywood stereotypes:
Non Typical Bollywood films are now becoming very typical. Although the film was bad, the fact remains, that person who is setting up the Television department of SRK’s Red Chillies, is making films with Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon and Javed Jaffrey. Rajat Kapoor is coming as a leading guy (none of the side hero please , given that in most cases he anyway overpowers the hero) with Neha Dhupia. Big, bad and commercial Sanjay Gupta is planning to make Chitra Devakurni’s novels into films. AB is coming in movies directed by Leena Yadav (as opposed to the regular folks he works with). Allegedly folks such as Rajpal Yadav, Vinay, Ranvir are asking for and getting a crore….and more power to them for that…while I can’t pay them that…it feels good that they are getting their market dues and that due is not linked to you being a star bachcha or relative. The “old” school of RGV is still star obsessed, but there is a whole world of “old RGV sensibilities” that has sprung up and is boldly going where others feared. Add to this the alternative, but still commercially lucrative world of films that Rajat/Naseer/KayKay/Madhur/Bhavna, etc make……DRASTIC CHANGES ARE HAPPENING THERE TOO.

Priyanka Chopra playing Superman’s love?
May 29, 2008 No Comments »
This is what this link seems to say. At Bollywooders we believe if there exists a dame that can romance the Superman then Priyanka Chopra is definitely the one.
The link says
Speaking to Spicezee, a source said, "The filmmakers had been looking for an Indian face for quite long as the role is of an Indian scientist. When they came to know of Priyanka shooting in the US for Dostana, the director of Superman went to the shoot to judge her work."
Good for her!

Bollywood IIFA awards to be held in Bangkok
May 28, 2008 No Comments »
The International Indian Films Awards (IIFA) are always happening in foreign countries. The last year it was Yorkshire and this year it’s Bangkok. Why Bankgkok? In this link Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of the IIFA says:
The idea is to move to different parts of the universe, to try and make this a global effort; to build bridges rather than just make this another awards ceremony.
Does India too belong to some part of the universe?
The link further says:
Director Karan Johar will host the IIFAs award ceremony. Actors Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, and Govinda are confirmed to attend. The highlight will be the premiere of Sarkar Raj, the Godfather remake, which reunites all three Bachchans – Amitabh, his son Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – after their last screen appearance in Bunty aur Babli.

Even the website of Love Story 2050 is futuristic
May 28, 2008 1 Comment »
Says Harman Baweja. Love Story 2050, as the name suggests, is a love story that happens in 2050 and Harman Baweja debuts in this movie. His co-star is the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra. And if you are curious about the "futuristic" website, here it is. It’s not as sleek as it could have been, if that’s what they were trying.

May 28, 2008 No Comments »
Vidya Balan has been caste opposite Abhishek Bachchan in R. Balakrishnan’s next venture titled Pa. Balakrishnan recently made Chini Kum with Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu. Despite Tabu giving a superb performance in his film Balakrishnan has decided to take Vidya Balan. The movie also has his Cheeni Kum star Amitabh Bachchan. Regarding Tabu not being in his next film he says:
But that’s because Pa has no room for Tabu at all. This time the story is a father-son one. Amitabh has no love interest in the film. And sorry about that. Abhishek does have a girl though.

Neha Dhupia doesn’t want to expose now
May 27, 2008 No Comments »
Neha Dhupia is apparently refusing roles that require her to expose needlessly. Does it mean she will expose if the script of the film requires? Does it mean till now she has been exposing needlessly? Anyway, in this interview she says:
I am looking at working with those makers only whom I can count upon for being aesthetic in their depiction of roles. I have realised that even the slightest of exposure, if not portrayed aesthetically, can send wrong signals. I don’t think anyone should have a problem with that.
Neha Dhupia is a decent-looking actress and she isn’t as horrible as, say, Katrina Kaif when it comes to moving the facial muscles, but she has surely been making some wrong choices. I hope she gets some good roles.
