Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif has said no to any kissing scenes in her movies.
Katrina Kaif has said no to any kissing scenes in her movies despite her producers saying that such scenes are a demand of their script.
A source close to the Bollywood lead lady, while revealing this said, “Katrina has said no to kissing scenes in all her films apart from New York. And though the directors are very keen to see her kiss her co-stars. Katrina cleverly keeps dodging all the so-called must-kiss scenes. She is a very conservative girl at heart. In fact, when reports claimed that she was going to wear a bikini in Dostana 2, Katrina protested and made it clear to producer Karan Johar and director Tarun Mansukhani, no exposure, no kissing.”
Katrina says that though she was a part of a kissing scene in her movie New York, she wasn’t very comfortable with it. But now Katrina is acting smart. She refuses to buy the usual argument given by his producers that since such scenes are a demand of their script, she cannot refuse them. If reports are to be believed, Katrina has already said ‘No’ to such scenes in films like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti.
Katrina has also rubbished the reports that she agreed to any such scene in Rajneeti. Sources say though the director of Raajneeti, Prakash Jha, was very keen on having a kissing scene in the film, he had to drop the idea after Katrina had a huge argument with him saying that the kissing sequence won’t go well with the character of politician that she undertakes in the film and ultimately convinced him not to shoot the scene.
So, with Katrina saying No to kissing scenes in any of her future films, all you fans are in for a disappointment and will have to refer back to New York if you wish to see her locking lips.

Amisha Patel
Amisha Patel is said to have broken-up with her boyfriend Kanav Puri.
Amisha Patel’s professional career is going nowhere. In fact, she hasn’t had a major hit after Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which came way back in 2001.
Yes, some of her films like Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd and Bhool Bhulaiyaa have done good business at the box office, but Amisha has failed to draw much advantage from it anyway.
There is a general perception in the Hindi film industry that Amisha’s professional career is going slow because rather than concentrating on films, her focus is on her personal life as she is planning to settle down with her longtime boyfriend Kanav Puri. So, if you are one of those who go with this general perception in Bollywood, here is a surprise for you. If sources close to the Bollywood lead lady are to be believed, contrary to the above understanding, Amisha is actually going to act the other way round and is getting ready leave her boyfriend to save her sinking career in Bollywood.
This, despite the fact that wanting to settle down with her, Kanav is said to have proposed marriage around six months back. But he is yet to receive a positive reply from Amisha.
Sources say that the real reason behind Amisha decision to not say a final yes to Kanav is her parents. You may recall that when Amisha got close to Kanav, she had just broken-up with her then boyfriend Vikram Bhatt and her relation with her family were also not at their best. But, now, the situation has changed once more and Amisha is close to her family. It is her family, who now wants Amisha to slowly and steadily put an end to her relation with Kanav and focus on her career in Bollywooid.
So, acting on her family’s advice, Amisha has eventually broken-up her relation with Kanav and hopefully you will see her trying her luck in Bollywood all over again.

Kajol
Karan Johar wants Kajol to fall on the sets of his films. Read Why?
Every film maker is keen to see that no unwarranted incident should take place from the day his film is announced till the day it eventually hits the cinema halls. The producers also pray that the health of all those associated with the film, especially the lead star-cast does not get adversely affected in any way during the making of the film since it has a huge impact on the film.
But not so with karan Johar, who wants his favorite female star Kajol to fall once on the sets of his films since he and his unit regard it lucky for his films. This was recently disclosed on the Television show Lift Kara De.
Incidentally, Kajol has had a fall on the sets of all the films that she has worked with Karan. It all started with Karan’s first directorial venture Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where Kajol had a fall while she was shooting for a cycling scene. It is reported that Kajol again had a serious fall on the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Since both these films went on to become super hits at the Box-office, it made Karan and his crew believe that Kajol’s fall is lucky for their films.
But contrary to Karan’s expectations, Kajol did not fall even once on the sets of his latest film My Name Is Khan, creating doubt in everyone’s mind that this could be a bad sign for the film.
So, is it a bad sign for Karan and his upcoming film? Well, you don’t have to fait till the release of My Name Is Khan to know this.
As the unit of My Name Is Khan shot on, hoping Kajol to fall, which never happened, they reached the last day of shooting. And then, when Karan had lost all hope, on the last day of shooting, Kajol tripped and fell. Believe it or not, there was such a huge cheer on the sets of the film that it could easily make you believe that with this incident, for Karan and his unit, My Name Is khan is already a massive hit.
It seems Karan wants Kajol to fall on every film of his since he regards it lucky and auspicious for himself. If he is right or not, we will know when My Name Is Khan releases.

Leander Paes
Ace Tennis player Leander Paes will soon be making an entry into Bollywood.
After keeping India’s flag flying high in the field of Tennis for years, one of the most well-known sports personalities of the country, Leander Paes, will now be making a debut in world of Bollywood.
While disclosing this recently, Bengal Tennis Association secretary Hiranmoy Chatterjee said, "Paes has decided to take up a full-time career in Hindi films after he leaves playing tennis. To start with, he has got an offer to play the lead role in a movie."
If reports are to be believed, Paes is very serious about his Bollywood career and is already making preparations in this regard. To begin with, Paes is said to be taking acting classes in Anupam Kher’s acting institute for the last one and a half years so that when he actually faces the camera, he has some knowledge of what he is doing and hopefully is as good at acting as he is while playing tennis. Moreover, since the tennis star feels that he is not so good at Hindi, he is also taking Hindi classes to improve his command over the language.
Whereas Chatterjee says that the primary formalities of Paes’s launching film are complete and the tennis star is intentionally keeping the name and other details of the film under wrap, Paes’s father has a different story to tell. He says, "Discussions are on a preliminary stage. He will take a final decision only after weighing the pros and cons and seeing the scope."
Ace Tennis player Leander Paes by making an entry into Bollywood, may become the first tennis player to do so, but he is certainly not the first personality from the world of sports in this industry. In the past, many sports personalities including the famous cricketers have taken a plunge into the world of Hindi film industry, but haven’t been very successful. Let us see if Paes has a different story to tell.

Ishqiya is said to be doing great business at the box office.
It is great time for producer Vishal Bhardwaj, as his film Ishqiya is said to be doing great business by drawing huge audiences to the cinema halls. The off-beat film having no big stars is said to have earned a sum of Rs. 14 Crore during the first three days of its release.
The film is said to gradually catching up in its collection with each passing show. Though it may be not be impressive by any given standards, Ishqiya, which started with around 50% collection in its first show, managed to get about 65% collection, in the fourth show on the same day.
If that was not enough, the film gained even further with around 80-90% occupancy on Saturday and went to almost packed houses on Sunday.
Trade analysts say that the film is performing really well in Delhi, U. P. Punjab and Mumbai territories, with a major part of the collection coming from these areas only. But, what’s most surprising for the makers of Ishqiya is that despite the fact that the story of the film belongs mainly to North India, the film is also getting above average collections in southern regions of the country like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The film has also done good business as with both the masses as well as the selected audiences who watch movies at the multiplexes in big cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Now that is a great news for everyone associated with Ishqiya.

Ritesh Deshmukh
Ritesh Deshmukh is very happy with his role in Rann because he has been accepted in serious characters.
Ritesh is very happy that eventually with his role in Rann, he has been noticed in serious characters. There is a general understanding in Bollywood that since Ritesh has usually done light-hearted characters, he is good at such roles only. But, with his excellent performance in a mature character in Rann, Ritesh has forced everyone to change their perception about him.
But, what is unique about Ritesh is that so far in his career, it is only Ram Gopal Verma, who has considered Ritesh good for taking on more serious characters. Even Ritesh says, “Ramu considering me for serious roles has become more of a common thing than exception. Only Ramu comes up with such unique ideas and these different kind of roles. But I feel happy that at least there is one director, who thinks of different kind of roles for me.”
Ritesh says, “Before signing the film, I had actually asked Verma that when everyone is signing me only for comic roles, why he thinks that I am fit for a serious character? Ramu replied that from the day the two of us had met, he had seen the serious side of mine. He considered me to be a serious guy in real life and hence wanted to cast me in a different and serious kind of a role."
Ritesh is very happy that with Ram Gopal Verma’s Rann, he has been accepted in more serious roles. But, Riesh hopes that this is only the beginning and many more serious roles will fall into his kitty in days to come.

John Abraham
John Abraham would be moving to USA for vigorous physical training for his next movie.
Bollywood star John Abraham has been asked to shift to USA for his physical training for the next project in Hindi movies, which he is going to take up with Kamat.
Though John already has quite a good physique, which he has shown in many of his earlier movies like Goal and Dostana, Kamat feels this is not enough for the character John is to take-up in this particular film. Keeping this in mind, Kamat has asked John to move to USA for vigorous physical training.
If sources close to the producers of the untitled film are to be believed, John will undergo a commando like training by specialist physical trainers, who in the past have worked on international projects like Kill Bill. The makers of the film say that they felt the need for John to go through this training because the untitled film is going to have the kind of stunts, which till now have been seen in rare Hollywood movies and they want John to be prepared for it.
But, the good thing here for the producers is that John is already an extremely health conscious person and follows a strict health schedule. This is probably the reason that though he is to be trained by internationally acclaimed physical trainers, he has been asked to follow the same eating and exercising patterns that he undertakes in his daily routine of life.
During his stay for about a month in USA, John will undergo a 10-12 hours physical training on a daily basis.
John is said to be very excited about the film. He says that since he has not been a part of many action films in the past, his moving to USA for vigorous physical training for his next movie should not only help him in his next film but whenever he does an action movie in the future.

A R Rehman
A R Rehman has won this year’s Grammy Award for Slumdog Millionaire.
After winning two Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire, Indian music maestro A R Rehman has now won two Grammy awards for his work in the same film.
In the 52nd edition of the awards announced in Los Angeles, Rehman won the award in both the categories he was nominated for as he bagged the trophy for the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category and picked up another trophy for his song Jai Ho in the best motion picture song category.
An ecstatic Rehman while accepting the award said, "This is insane, God has been great again."
While thanking his fans back in India, Rehman said after the ceremony, "Hey guys back home in India. Awesome we won two Grammies again. God bless you all for all your prayers. Your good wishes and love."
Though, Rehman has already won many international awards for his work in Slumdog Millionaire including Oscar, Golden Globes and Bafta, his winning the Grammy holds special significance since Grammy are considered as the highest honor in the field of music and winning one is like a dream come true for any musician in the world.
His win in the Grammy is also important because unlike the Oscars, Rehman had a very tough competition in both the categories he was nominated for with many senior artists like Steve Jordan Quentin, Tarantin and the producers of Twilight and True Blood running for the same awards. But, Rehan was able to prove his worth among such greats and win the two trophies.
With Rehman winning the Grammy for Slumdog Millionaire, it probably completes all major awards for him this year.

Shahrukh Khan and Kajol
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol recently rang the NASDAQ Bell.
Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan and Kajol got a rare honor when they rang the NASDAQ bell to start business at the American stock exchange.
Ringing the NASDAQ bell is considered a very big respect for anyone in the world and only some big celebrities including some head of states have been considered worthy of it in the past. Days before the release of their film My Name Is Khan, Shahrukh and Kajol became the first Bollywood celebrity to get this unique honor.
If sources are to be believed, Shahrukh and Kajol got this honor courtesy Fox Searchlight Picture, one of the most prominent film distribution company in the world, which is also distributing My Name Is Khan, the latest movie starring Shahrukh and Kajol.

Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan has signed the biggest endorsement deal ever in Bollywood.
The good time for Aamir Khan doesn’t seem to end. After the grand success of 3 Idiots at the box offices, Aamir has now signed the biggest ever endorsement deal in Hindi film industry, with a new telecom entrant, UAE’s Etisalat, which will pay him between Rs. 30-35 cr per year for endorsing their products. Aamir will have a 3 years contract with the company.
Considering the timing of the deal, you can say that Aamir has been very lucky with the deal this time around. Though the deal has been on for quite some time now, it eventually took the final shape when after the grand success of 3 Idiots, Aamir and his career is at an all time high.
So, what does this deal actually mean for Aamir? It means that whereas other big Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan get around Rs 8 cr. Per year for their endorsements, Aamir now gets much more than that. Further, the Rs 30-35 cr, which Aamir will get from the new telecom entrant, UAE’s Etisalat will be apart from the big amount that he is already earning from other endorsements like Coke and Tata sky.
No, wonder that Aamir is so choosy with his films. When he is getting such a good amount just by endorsements, what is the need for him to risk his career by exposing himself by doing too many films and then getting tagged as a flop actor.
With signing the biggest endorsement deal ever in Bollywood, Aamir has proved that his status is far ahead than any other star in the Hindi Film Industry.

Saif Ali Khan
It happened in 1998. Saif and Salman Khan were shooting in Jodhpur for the movie Hum Saath Saath Hain. That year Salman and Saif hit the headlines for alleged killings of black bucks during the shooting. Black bucks are an endangered species. But film world is hardly known for its wildlife awareness. Now Saif had irked the Bishnoi community and wildlife activists. They are agitated over actor Saif Ali Khan being honoured with a Padma Shir by the government.
The case is still under trial. Salman Khan was even imprisoned in the case for the shooting of the endangered species. Now the wildlife activists are planning to appeal to the Union government against the decision. The Bishnoi Tiger Vanyajeev Evam Paryavaran Sansthan (BTVPS) said they will soon to write to the President and the Prime Minister protesting against the decision.
People for Animals also expressed their regret on the Union Government’s decision to honor an accused in the case. The organization is now planning to go ahead with the Union minister for forests and environment, Jairam Ramesh saying that this decision is hurting the dignity of the award as well as the spirit of the other deserving recipients.

Shahrukh Khan
Shiv Sena has heavily criticized Shahrukh Khan for favoring the inclusion of players from Pakistan in this year’s IPL.
Shiv Sena is said to be highly upset with Shahrukh Khan and has criticized him for favoring the inclusion of Players from Pakistan in the upcoming IPL cricket tournament.
Shahrukh had recently expressed his disappointment over the fact that the various team owners of the upcoming IPL tournament had ignored inclusion of the players from Pakistan in their respective teams. Shahrukh said that if any positions are still vacant in various teams and if good players from Pakistan are available to fill those positions, the team owners should consider such players.
An upset Shiv Sena has left no stone unturned to take on Shahrukh in this case. Apart from the usual criticism from Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thakrey, Shahrukh also had to face the anger from common Shiv Sena workers, who tore the posters of his new movie My Name Is Khan after this statement from him. Some party workers even went on to say that if Shahrukh is feeling so sad and sorry about the exclusion of Players from Pakistan and is so keen to see them playing, he himself should migrate to that country.
But this time around, it seems Shahrukh too is getting support on this issue from all quarters. Speaking on the issue, another Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, who like Shahrukh owns an IPL team said that players from that country got left out because there was pressure on all team owners not to bid for players from Pakistan. Shahrukh also got support from his biggest rival in Bollywood Aamir Khan, who said that each team owner should have the right to buy best players and if some of those players are from Pakistan, so it be.
Irrespective of how much they may try, Shiv Sena cannot match the popularity of Shahrukh. They have tried to attain short term benefit by trying to heavily criticized Shahrukh for favoring the inclusion of players from Pakistan in this year’s IPL, but the way some Bollywood stars and media has come forward in favor Shahrukh, it seems their ploy hasn’t worked.

Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan is happy and humbled to get Padma Shree.
Saif Ali Khan, who recently became the youngest Bollywood lead male actor to receive the prestigious state honor Padam Shree has said that he is very happy to get the state honor. But at the same time, a humbled Saif added that he feels he is too young and less experienced for this award.
Saif said, "Honestly speaking, I feel really humbled and undeserving for receiving the Padma Shri. It isn’t something that I had asked for and since Government of India has given me this honor, all I can do is to deliver my best and live up to it."
Not speaking in a lot of death, Saif said that he is grateful to his family, his loved ones and his directors for making this day possible for him and would like to thank them.
Saif said that even he realizes that there are many people out there, who deserve this honor much more than he himself. That is precisely the reason that despite being very happy on being awarded a Padam Shree, a humbled Saif has kept a very low profile off-late and not celebrated a lot after the award was conferred on him. Even Saif knew that if he celebrates too much right now, a lot of fingers will be pointed towards him and will lead to an all-round debate as to whether he actually deserves such a big award or not. By keeping a low profile right now, Saif has tried to indicate that sometimes silence says more than words. May be Saif is right.

Preity Zinta
Preity Zinta is keen on getting back to traditional Bollywood roles.
After trying her luck in some unconventional films, where she had a little off-beat character, Preity Zinta now wants to get back to the traditional Bollywood cinema and do some regular female lead roles. Preity knows quite well that though the off-beat characters are good for her inner satisfaction as an actor, if she has to survive as a star, she will have to do the regular singing and dancing around trees.
Speaking on this issue, Preity recently said, “I am aware that off-late I have not been doing any films, which go with my bubbly image.”
She further added, “I am also aware of the fact that just as Yuvraj Singh is known for his sixers and Brett Lee for his bouncers, I’m known for being bubbly and doing happy movies. But at the same time, I am equally proud of my different films like Videsh and The Last Lear. But I think I need to get back to proper commercial cinema now.”
If Preity is to be believed, she has been inspired to get back to mainstream Bollywood cinema by her fans only. Preity said that her fans have been asking her to do a regular Bollywood role for quite some time now and she has eventually decided to fulfill their wish. She has signed a number of regular films off-late and hopes this will bring smile back on the faces of her fans later this year.
Though, Preity is getting back to traditional Bollywood roles for the sake of her fans, she might be taking too much risk. In the last around two and a half years that she has not undertaken a proper commercial Bollywood film, lead ladies like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif have surged past her and gone miles ahead. Preity will have to work really hard to prove to everyone that she still has it in her to give them a stiff competition.

Amitabh Bachchan in Rann
Star Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal, Mohnish Behl, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, Rajat Kapoor, Gul Panag, Neetu Chandra, Rajpal Yadav, Sudeep, Rahul Pendkalkar, Neena Kulkarni, Simone Singh, Iklaq Khan, Alok Nath
Director : Ram Gopal Verma
Irrespective of whether you like Rann or not, one thing you most certainly would want to do after seeing the film, is to congratulate Ram Gopal Verma on his courageous attempt to make a totally different kind of a movie.
What this film does is that it exposes. Whereas media is often known to expose people, Rann exposes the media and those, who use it for their selfish gains. The film throws light on different aspects of news and news-making like, along with whatever is happening in the news room, what goes behind it, the all-interesting politician-industrialist-media nexus and the war between different channels to get better viewership, so that it can be ahead in ratings.
The film talks of how like any other field in the world, media also has both good and bad people, who over and under sensationalize the news and use the media for their selfish gains, without you even getting to know about it.
Rann is about Vijay Harshvardhan Malik [Amitabh Bachchan], a hardcore journalist with ethics, whose news channel 24×7 is fighting for survival. Vijay also has a son Jay [Sudeep), who looks at media in a very different way and feels that his father’s news channel is nothing but a business entity, which just like his father’s competitor [Mohnish Bahl] channel must give profits at the end of the day.
The story takes a turn when a corrupt politician Mohan Pandey [Paresh Rawal], who aspires to be the Prime Minister of the country, uses Vijay’s son-in-law Navin [Rajat Kapoor] to manipulate both Vijay and his channel.
The script of the film, as needed is tight and makes a lot of sense despite it being told in the simplest manner. The only drawback in the film’s script are certain scenes regarding investigative journalism, which tend to confuse the viewer to a extent. But, a well written climax compensates for this drawback and brings the film back on track.
Among the technical side of film making, Rann can boast of good cinematography by Amit Roy, well-penned dialogues and an excellent background music score.
Amitabh Bachchan has given an excellent performance in the film. Some of his scenes like say for example his speech before the climax, tend to show his caliber as an actor. Other star cast of the film including Sudeep, Riteish, Paresh Rawal, Rajat ,Kapoor, Gul Panag, Neetu Chandra, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Rajpal Yadav, Neena Kulkarni and Simone Singh have all justified their characters.
On a whole, Rann is a serious film with a very powerful message and will be liked by those who enjoy serious and meaningful cinema.
