Bollywood recently celebrate the worst in 2009 by giving them awards.
It’s the award season in Bollywood as awards are being given for everything in the industry, even the worst. The worst in Bollywood got rewarded when second annual golden kela awards were announced recently.
Though it did average business at the box office and in no ways can be called an absolute flop, the maximum number of worst awards went to Kambakkht Ishq. Not only was the movie voted s the worst film of 2009, Kareena Kapoor was selected as the worst female lead for the same film. Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards won the Bawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke award, also for Kambakkht Ishq only.
If Kambakkht Ishq was voted for three awards, What’s Your Rashi wasn’t far behind as it was voted for two awards with Harman Baweja being voted as the worst actor and Ashutosh Gowariker voted as the worst director for the same film.
Dil Bole Hadippa was also voted for two awards as the film was selected for the most original story. Alongside, the pair of Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor, who were seen together for the first time in this film, was voted as the worst pair of 2009.
The voters selected Jackie Bhagnani in Kal Kissne Dekha and Shruti Haasan in Luck were declared the worst newcomer of the year.
Other, who were selected for the award this year included Kabir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan
The golden kela awards are based on the concept of Hollywood’s Razzies awards, which celebrate the worst of the year in the west. The golden kela awards were given on the basis of votes from an online poll.
Since annual golden kela awards celebrate the worst in Bollywood, is getting these awards an insult to all those, who are selected for these awards? Not really if Abhishek Bachchan is to be believed. The Bollywood star, who has been selected for the award in worst accent category said, “I am overjoyed by this new milestone in my career. Delhi-6 at least won something.”
